Hey SUNSUCKS, relax. He meant it all in good fun. Marylanders are nuts, and we know this. We're proud of it.

Where else is it acceptable to throw a full can of beer at a girl for not flashing her boobs?? Where else is it encouraged to race across a row of portapots? You always see horses, but they aren't the ones racing on the track. Preakness... putting the 'ass' in classy. I've had some of my best memories (and worst mental images) while partaking in the debauchery, and have loved every second of it.
See you all on the infield on Saturday! For those who can't take it... sit in the grandstands or watch it on tv |

Being from Louisville, I am amazed at the lack of interest in the Preakness here. Of course, Louisville has nothing else but the Derby, but every year I always think, "oh yeah, isn't the Preakness this week?"

National Boh??? Where can I get one
|
|
|
Yeah Preakness! It's where some southern boy rednecks can all get together and drink beer and watch horses they have never heard of run around...then drink some more beer. I saw about 7 rebel flags in the infield of Pimlico last year.

Kevin is dead on. Great idea comparing the two. I have been to both races many times. The only one that left me with 23 stitches and a concussion was the Preakness. Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree.......

Great article and dead on. I've been to over 20 Derbies and a few Preakness Stakes. Only the second jewel of the Triple Crown left me with 23 stitches and a concussion. I do remember the crab cakes were good. Oh Christmas Tree, oh Christmas Tree.......

1 [ESPN - opinion - comments at full story link] This one is different. This time, the people are not going to buy that tired, old "it's part of the game" line. The public is outraged by the death of Eight Belles in the Kentucky Derby and asking some very serious, very appropriate questions about whether or not horse racing is tantamount to animal cruelty. This is usually where the sport buries its collective head in the sand, tells people how much everyone involved with the game loves their horses, and hopes the controversy dies down. This time, that's not going to work. The horse racing industry has to be proactive and take some severe measures to make this sport safer and more humane for the animals that compete and the humans that ride them. ... People are tired of seeing horses die. Perhaps some of the reactions that have come from the Eight Belles situation are over the top, but that's not the point. Horseracing has to react to public sentiment, something it has never been very good at doing. It has to do so because it's the right thing to do for the horses and because it has to deal with a public relations nightmare. Are we that far from the point where sponsors pull their ads from Triple Crown telecasts because of pressure put on them by animal rights activists and/or the media outcry over all these deaths? Horseracing has come to a crossroad. It had better go down the right path. For the betters If it rains watch out BB
Don't feel there will be a Triple Crown winner. In the Peter Pan last Saturday in NY a horse by the name od Casino Drive imported from Japan won the Grade race by 5 1/2 lengths and ran with NO LAXIS. He was shipped here for a prep race over the NY track and will most likely will run in the Belmont Stakes in June. Go Casino Drive \This Japanese trainer had 2 horses in the The Peter Pan Stakes race and the 2nd horse finished 6th |
