It's a pretty bold statement all things considered. Maybe a few less commercials and we could have a pretty good season???

My guess would be that Curtis Kelly will be leaving. Even if Thabeet goes, he is still down in the depth chart. He failed to seize any opportunity given to him all season and unfortunately had the injury.

Hey People !!! Look for the same next season,maybe not even as good. Things won't change until this class is totally gone. That is if Calhoun can get some of the type of players that used to come to UConn. These guys have destroyed the fear that most teams had when they used to play the Huskies. Nothing but a bunch of wannabees,crooks and dopers on this team.

They made progress from last season,so give them a break..they can't win a national championship EVERY year...
My guess is Dyson will leave, too many guards for a few available slots, plus a change of scenery might do him good.

I love how even though the men have been out of the tourney for over a week, and have had an entirely sub-par season (*ahem like the past decade), they are still making headlines in the Courant. Get off it, Connecticut. The UConn men's team routinely rolls out non-student athletes, who rarely graduate from UConn, are frequently in legal trouble, or are just disappointing athletes in general.
The women are the story, but because of their gender, take second place on a regular basis.

He is getting desparate which means players like Nate Myles geting in to UC when they shouldn't

I think it is time for a coaching change. Calhoun talks about displaying appropriate behavior on and off of the court. Well, He sure as hell doesn't display it. His charging onto the court and swearing at the top of his lungs at a player, is belittling and atrocious. And like another poster said, it is time to recruit some non criminals. I would rather a team who plays well together and doesn't win a championship to some thugs winning quite few games. There have only been a few class players recently. Where is the next Okafor? He set the example on the court and in the classroom.

what kinda crack do you smoke? sub-par decade? last time I checked two championships in the last decade is far from sub-par. Why WOULDN'T this get headlines? There are no professional teams in the state, and Uconn men is about as close as we got.

Don't give me this crap with the women. Its not hard to be a good women's team when all the best players go to 1 of 5 different schools. No one outside of Ct and Tennessee even watches women's basketball, and the only reason it gets any time at all on sportscenter is because espn is located in CT.

Hope Calhoun doesn't read this silliness on a regular basis.
Hasheem will declare and not hire an agent. He'll make the rounds of predraft camps and somebody will make him a promise just like Boone and Bynum. Uconn will have to get lucky with a junior college transfer
at center like the football team did at qb - unless Gauvin learns to shoot a foul shot or ten foot jumper or layup over the summer. Too bad. He actually has some potential. He has to work on his game. I don't know what these kids think about. They only have four years before they either make it or become a working stiff. People have really poor memories and seem to have forgetton the good ole days when Earl Kelly was trying to beat the Georgetowns and Ewings by himself. Calhoun IS this program. Saw Walker Mcdonalds all star game. Walker has some speed and hops but he has a long way to go. Huskies had a very good season. Go Cardinals!!!

Unfortunately, Calhoun had the job of developing too many players at one time. If Price hadn't screwed up last year, he would have been more seasoned and probably wouldn't have needed as much of Calhoun's attention. But this year he had to work with Price and Thabeet too much to get them to where the team needed to be. Doesn't help that Robinson simply never developed as a player at the time he should have.

So this season Calhoun had to devote too much attention to individual players rather than the next step, which is getting the team to start working together.

Maybe next year will be a bit different, if they also can get some reliable outside shooting.

Two National Championships in the past decade! How many other schools can claim this?
Your comments about "non-student athletes" and "legal trouble" with no facts to back them up again demonstrate your foolishness. Review the performance of UCONN's Athletic programs vs other Div. 1 schools and you will see that UCONN has nothing to be ashamed of in comparison.
As to the question of "non-graduates" which becomes an easy target for "stone throwers", I do not see any mention of the UCONN athletes who have moved into professional sports careers and who have continiously donated large sums of money to UCONN for a variety of purposes--academic, athletic, etc.
