not at all a bad move...there was no doubt we needed another reciever, i think there a better slot recievers out there, however he will take some of the coverge off edwards and vice versa. joe makes an excellent possesion reciever, and kellen does a good job up the middle, just need to be able to dump off to the rb now, jerome harrison looks ,ike he will be able to fill that spot

Really good move.

His speed will open up the field even more for the other weapons the Browns have. He just needs to stay healthy.

fourth team in four years. If he was any good he would'nt be bouncing around from team to team.

Good speed and has the ability to get open. Randy Moss's prescence helped him last year so we'll see if he can do it here. The only worry I have is that four teams have let him go in four years so I doubt it was all about the money.

Donte is a lot better than most of you recognize. His problems with other teams have always been the same: He either gets injured, then the team trades him (because he has so much talent, they recieved picks/players in return) or as a cost-cutting move IE: Patriots.

The Patriots are too confident in Brady quinn being able to throw to ANYBODY, that they let Donte go because of the 8 million he was due.

Donte was BY FAR the fastest player for the Patriots, and because of his speed he often made it easy for Moss to get catches. In-addition, Donte was good after the catch.

This is an AWESOME pick-up for the Browns. Those of you blasting this signing will be singing about how great it was come August.

As a Patriots fan....

Welker was the fastest player on the Patriots and Donte never got in the system right. He is a good 3rd or fourth receiver but he wont change a game for you.

Stallworth is, and has been on every team he has played for, a deep threat receiver. He averaged 15 yards per catch last year and averages the same for his career. He probably won't catch more than three passes a game. What he does best is give the defense something to worry about because if you ignore him he will run right past you. He has been on three different teams in three years (not including this deal) but that's a little misleading. He played for years with NO and left there to go to the Eagles as a free agent. So, more accurately, the Browns are his third team in three years. When Randy Moss signs, he will also be with his third team in three years. Not to compare the two because Moss is superior to Stallworth and that will reflect in the money that Moss will receive.

Stallworth is a role player. At $5M a year - remember the NFL doesn't guarantee contracts and the Browns can get rid of him at any time - this is not a big gamble. He started 9 games with the 16-0 Patriots last year and had 700 yards receiving. They let him go for salary-cap reasons.

Personally, right now I like the move. But we'll have to see how it plays out.

Actually, he has left three teams in three years; the Browns are his fourth team. I am not sure about his situation with the Eagles - who I believe released him because of injuries - but he left the Saints and the Patriots as a free agent.

I wouldn't say he 'left' the Saints. They decided to go with Marcus Colston and let Stallworth go. It probably wasn't a good move because he's been productive since he wasn't resigned by NO.

i thought the browns were cheap and never payed their players? look at the free agents the last 7 yrs and draft picks and look at the numbers they have put out there. the steelers are the wal mart of the nfl. you are a clueless sob. stallworth is not a two rec. he is a deep threat that will take the double team off of winslow or edwards. who are you gonna double. go ahead play soft, just run lewis. this offense has a real good chance to be scary. and the defence will be improved a lot from next year. it should be fun.

Great great aquisition with joe jurivisious more in likelely retiring after 2008 season the browns need another legitimate receiver. I found out friday that stallworth was visiting the browns and i was hoping he would come into cleveland and stay in cleveland. Great move by Phil savage and especially bulking up our defensive line with rodgers and william this team is heading to the playoffs so get ready new england, indianapolis and san diego there might be a new sheriff in town

All NFL teams will cover Braylon and Winslow and hope that Stallworth continues to drop passes in clutch situations.

Stallworth had one catch in the red zone in 2207.
Stallworth had one cathc in the red zone in 2006.

Stallworth has only started in 63% of the games he has played in in the NFL.

53 games started in 84 games played = 63%.

Trade DA or Bradie Q and an average linebacker to the Bears for a great linebacker and a draft pick.

Savage is looking to put together another version of the Patriots offensive fire power used to overwhelm teams and let the defense play most of the game downhill. Dude has got it together. the Browns have to be considered the favorite now for the division.
