Guess you didn't make great grades in reading comprehension, did you? I wasn't shaming the military, bonehead, I was shaming those who voted for an administration who put the military in harm's way needlessly.

I do, and not ashamed of it! They did die for a true cause for us and their family. I and for the rest of you are benefitting from their sacrifices everyday by being able to go to work and go to to your nice home and think about what to do on your next holiday vacation in your nice car without worrying about when the next foriegn anti american terrorist will send a bomb to blow you up or your family memeber. so for the rest of you stop ranting and enjoy your freedom or join the military and serve to experience their hardship and sacrifices for your sake. all of them signed up for a lot of reason but one of those reason i know for sure is to make this country and its citizens grate. GOD BLESS THIS COUNTRY AND ITS BRAVE TROOPS!
Get a grip!!! Your paranoia is spilling over. No one, and I mean NO ONE, is keeping America safe from terrorism. The terrorists could walk right across the southern border of America by the hundreds if they so desire; and probably already have. While our men and women in the military are forced into a no-win situation in the Middle East; we in THIS country have opened the door to anyone and anything that wants to get here.

While our soldiers are dying and billions upon billions of dollars are being wasted on a conflict that was created for convenience sake, America is falling apart from the inside. We're become weak and unsound and THAT, my friend, will make us vulnerable to many dangerous situations.

Worry about being blown up by a terrorist? In America? That's the last thing that keeps me awake at night. You have a 1 in 1,500,00 of dying in a foreign terrorist-caused shopping mall disaster assuming you shop two hours a week. YOU HAVE A 1 in 197 OF DYING IN A HOMOCIDE CAUSED BY A TYPICAL ACT OF CRIME HERE IN AMERICA. You do the math.

America is being destroyed from the inside out. You'd better take a look around you and stop worrying about what already IS happening, compared to what might remotely happen.

My question stands: Do you honestly think American soldiers have a special entry-to-heaven thing going on with God?
Houston is my home town, by the way. And ordering people around is a skill most of us have to aquire, but it seems to come naturally to you.
Did I ever claim that American soldiers have a special entry-to-heaven thing going on with God?

Do you want me to actually answer the question, or should I even bother? You know what you already think I am. It's doubtful if your opinion will change even if I write a dissertation on the topic.

So is there really any point to going into this needless PC conversation about how everyone is equal?

This isn't a post about all soldiers in the world. This is a post about an American soldier, and I am an American soldier.

I think everyone who dies is broguht before God and judged- American soldier, foreign soldier, regular civilian. There's your answer.

A small percentage of America is being destroyed from within by people like you. Where are all those terriost since 9/11, that can walk right in? America has a lot of weak spots, lot of mistakes, but it always comes back and will keep coming back. Anyone that feels as you do about America needs to move just next door with anti american fidel. He would welcome you as long as you spew that kind of progranda.

No, I guess you didn't, did you?

I think the original poster might have meant to claim such a thing, but maybe I'm wrong. Struck me as such a remarkable proposition that I just couldn't let go of it.

Didn't mean to ruffle your feathers.

Peace.

Well son Houston isn't my home town, just my isp. Did not know I was ordering anyone around. Did not know anything about soldiers having a special entry to heaven. I may be wrong, but that heaven, god question is left up to the individual, whether they are soldiers or civilians, but I would say they are more than likely a little closer to god. Bullets whistling around your head helps. Right or wrong, they are over in Afgan and Iraq protecting your rights to post on this forum. Sorry, sir, didn't mean to order an Houston boy around. For me Houston is too big a city for me, although it has some real nice areas. Texas is a excellent state, but if i had my chocie, i might still be living in Oklahoma, but Texas will be fine for me. now you have a good week, sir.

Ga boy, I wasn't at the head of the class, but those old Louisian schools i went to did teach you to read. They also taught, which I, at times, don't listen to, that all this name calling is useless, but if it make you feel better, keep at it. Now sir, you have a good day.

Meanwhile, I’m dedicating this poem to the OVER ONE MILLION IRAQIS’ who were killed and to the FOUR THOUSAND TEN TROOPS who were also killed in IRAQ (APRIL 2, 2008) as they continue to die each and every day in a war that should never have been. A WAR that was solely based on EGOTISM, SADISM, LIES, AMBITION, GREED, you name it. Everything but EMPATHY, COMPASSION AND CONCERN for our TROOPS and the IRAQI’S, which was quite evident since DAY ONE. I’m also dedicating this poem to the FOUR HUNDRED NINETY TWO of our TROOPS WHO DIED IN AFGHANISTAN.

There is no death! The stars go down
To rise upon some other shore,
And bright in heaven’s jeweled crown
They shine for evermore.

There is no death! The dust we tread
shall change beneath the summer showers
to golden grain, or mellow fruit,
or rainbow-tinted flowers

The granite rocks in powder fall,
and feed the hungry moss they bear
the fairest leaves drink daily life
from out the viewless air.

There is no death! The leaves may fall,
the flowers may fade and pass away;
they only wait through wintry hours
the coming of the May.

And ever near us, though unseen,
The fair immortal spirits tread;
for all the boundless universe
Is life; there are no dead!

“Once a government is committed to the principle of
silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to
go, and that is down the path of increasing repressive
measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its
citizens, and creates a country where everyone lives in
fear.”-President Harry S. Truman

Thank you…

"Sir?"

How did we reach this level of civility?

Just when I was getting used to people calling me names....

I agree. I consider religion a private, personal matter, which is probably why people who are overtly and publicly religious rather irritate me. I suppose I shouldn't let them get under my fingernails -- they're harmless enough -- but they do irritate me.

I can't buy into that one. I think they're over there for other reasons, and "freedom," "democracy," et. al., do not enter into it.

I'm old enough to remember Viet Nam. We heard all the "freedom and democracy" baloney then. It was all lies then, and it's all lies now.

...but I'm getting started again.

You have a good day, yourself!

Well at least we agree on something, but we still have the right to disagree. That is scare in some of the countries. Well, I was around, when Hitler started his ranting, japs hit pearl harbor, in the Air Force during the Koreaian war, Around while Veietnam was on, etc. When you sign that paper to go in military, it tells you enough to be aware, that you may be in places like Afgan, Irag, right or wrong. The larges percentage of the military think, as i do that it is for the freedom of the USA. You always have people that think otherwise. But most people in the military have a bond that is hard to break. I think that Sadaaam should have been taken out, but the UN should have finished the job they started the first time, not just the US, Briton, Canada, etc. He was a dangerous man and at the time, about 95 percent of america, including the elected politicains were all for it. Right or wrong they are still fighting for your freedom./ The world is far from being perfect. if it was perfect we wouldn't have the so call wars, police force, etc.

Wow. Interesting comparison.
I think, it's six of one, half a dozen of the other.
(I gave fourteen years of military service, by the way. Thought I was one of the Good Guys. Now I'm not so sure.)
I served 21 yrs. I've been to Iraq.
The Bush administration and the people who voted them in..twice.. Are *ssholes... fumb ducking *ssholes. Who only care of themselves. Gimme,Gimme.. I want it now. Screw the future !!

Definition of hero - "a man distinguished by exceptional courage and nobility and strength"

I think SGT Maupin fits the billing.
