Well I'll give you that it might be exaggerated, but the suicide rates automatically go up when a military force is at war. The Canadian forces have experienced a huge increase in suicides. Also, it is well known the horrible treatment many of the injured troops receive upon return to the States.
By focusing on one fact in an article like this you minimize the real focus of the story.You'll have to let go of it, or you accomplish what the talking heads are trying to do. Ignore the real problem. That the troops have had to resort to suing the Federal Government to get treatment they have earned as wounded Veterans. Both parties are responsible for this.

There has been a recent congressional hearing where the VA was found to have lied and apologized for misleading reports.
It is about 1200 suicide attempts per month.The VA had reported a total of 790 for the year 2007.The number of 1200 attempts per month was collaborated by internal emails.
