Packers have got to be the dumbest organization on the planet. I will be LMAO when Rogers proves ineffective after about 3 weeks into the season........absolutely unbelievable.

Nice article, now cover the rest of the "Ws"! WHO and/or WHAT did the Packers receive from the Jets in the trade for this drama queen?

Kudos to the Jets for pulling the trigger on a deal that could pay huge dividends in the end. Reguardless, it will be a fun ride to watch Brady vs. Brett twice or even possably 3 times in a year.
Don't know if the same could have been said if he went to the Ravens but it would have been a huge upgrade until Flacco was ready. Only time will tell how much it could have mattered in the end.

The Packers did the right thing. If they weren't going to dump Rogers( I mean he has never played a game, right?) Personally,I would have dumped Rogers, kept Favre and groomed Braum as future.Get a 3rd string thru waiver wire. But now Get as much as you can for him. He is way beyong his prime. Last year was a final gift. This year he is a marked man. He will not finish the season without injury. His record of consecutive games played will end. The J-E-T-S made a big mistake and gave too much for him. They could have gone after Rogers and only gave up a 2nd instead of a 1st. for Favre. I hope there is no more distraction .This B******** is overplayed on ESPN.

You know what makes this deal interesting? It makes every Green Bay fan a Jets fan. And I don’t mean just because the love Favre. The way the trade is structured, the better the Jets do, the better the pick the Packers get. Jets are going to get exactly what they pay for. If Favre stinks and they stink, then they only give up a fourth rounder, but if they go to the Superbowl they give him a 1st rounder (and that first rounder would be one of the last 2 picks), so great deal for the Jets. Now every GB fan needs to start rooting for NY!

NO WAY FAVRE WOULD PLAY HERE IN BALTIMORE! Our O line sucks!! He would be dead after 1st half of 1st game. He can't run. You gotta be fast REAL FAST in our backfield!

This whole thing has been ridiculous, but at least it's over. I hope Rodgers does well.

While Brett did come off as a baby at times, the reality is that he's one of the top QBs of all time coming off of a really good year. We should have known he wouldn't let his last pass in the NFL go down as an INT, and the Packers should have kept the possibility of him coming back in the back of their minds. I don't blame him for not wanting to ride the pine after the way he played last year. If he came in a played awful this year, then bench him for Rodgers, but the Packers were way too stubborn to think that he'd just waltz in to sit the bench behind an unproven starter. The Packers built the ego, and now they tried to stand their ground. It's like raising a bratty kid, and then trying to put the kid in his place when he's an adult.

Oh well. Good luck, Brett. I hope the Madden curse doesn't catch up to you.

What a mistake for Green Bay, Brett is a warrior and a legend. Shame on you Green Bay, for not releasing him, if he was so washed up what were you afraid of? I truly think Brett had been pressure to retire and half heartily agreed. Brett could have made this whole process ugly by just showing up to camp after he was reinstated, but he took the high road. This is a man who truly loves the Packers loves this game, respects this game and plays this game with a young mans attitude. Good Luck to the Packers and Aaron, Go Brett!!!!

Favre is a punk. He's ruined a reputation that he's had to heal in the past when he allowed Michael Strahan to get the sack record on that ridiculous naked boot leg and the time he quit in the middle of a playoff game.

He's had a great career, but the guy is the King of selfish and he'll probably end up being remembered more for being an egotistical jerk than a great QB thanks to this little charade.

Good for the Jets. Ol Pennington never lived up to the hype. He'll get picked up somewhere else, though.
As for Green Bay, I hope they've seen something in Rogers that I missed,'cause this sure seems like a bad call to me. They should have rolled out the red carpet for Farve. Make it his swan song in Green Bay, and just give Rogers a long term deal that lets him know his time begins next year. But, they blew it. It'd be a shame to see that franchise hit the skids.

The only question that remains to be answered now is:

Does the Madden cover curse follow the player to another team ...?

Mark my words the Packers will stink this year. Aaron Rodgers has done nothing and by all accounts the offense looks terrible this summer with him under center. Terrible move by the Packers in a battle of egos. McCarthy and Thompson will both be fired in a couple of year when Rodgers doesnt work out. I noticed there isn't a stipulation against the Jets trading Favre to Chicago. I would love for that to happen now.

TRUTH - I need you to post more comments. They're hilarious. Pack front office couldn't have handled this situation any more poorly.

BTW...the Pack is an organization wholely owned by the fans. When the Rodger's experiement goes bust, which will probably be in the first game (he's played in two games and got injured in both), the organization will likely ask for the resignation of the coach and GM. Both of which are idiots and clearly don't understand the culture that preceeded them.

Farve had an incredible year in 2007 and can still play. He led his team into the playoffs, falling only to the Giants in OT.

The Packers - what a stupid move shafting a future Hall of Famer like this. What were they thinking???

The "fix" was in for the Giants to win the superbowl and Mr. Farve did not want any part in this "business" (corrupt) transaction. Brett is a man of "character" unlike the Green Bay owners and executives! Shame on Green Bay and the NFL. Good luck to you and your family Mr. Farve, all the best in New York City (The North welcomes you Southern)

they were thinking about the future. im a vikings fan who liked brett favre and i really dont blame the packers for what they did. they drafted rodgers for the future because they thought favre was going to retire then and favre keeps changing his mind. they just dont want to lose that 1st round pick they used on rodgers. i dont think he will be any good but the packers think he will. i wouldnt want to lose a draft pick like that if i thought he was going to be my future QB.

I am disgusted by this trade... Both the organization and Favre needed each other...

I hope Brett can make it work in NY... but I fear that since the Jet's defense cannot stop the run to save their lives, Brett will be put in a situation to "make it happen." (read into that, Packers a few years ago) Brett will start pushing the ball and bad things might happen.

And the management of this organization... Very very troubling... The 70s and 80s were a dark period of time... I really hope we do not go back to them...
