Oversight on my part, not back peddling. I guess it was my second post. But incase it is not yet clear, I do not support dog fighting (4 times I've said that now). I do think the punishments and law need to be revisited and amended to include less harsh punishments. I feel that Vick was treated unfairly.

I also do not appreciate being quoted out of context New York. Its a very cheap and poor strategy and people can see right through it.

When will this whole saga concerning Vick finally end? When will the malicious comments finally end? I am unaware of someone's financial records being displayed in the manner that Vick's has. This saga has gone beyond the animal abuse to "pure" racism and hatred. If I offend some then so be it. Those who say the response would have been the same if it were Eli or Peyton lying to themselvs and deliberately disceiving themselves. Eli and Peyton Maning are white men in America. Vick is a black man in America. Justice has yet to be the same for both. "Justice in America".
It appears as though the attempt is to break Vick. I guarantee this will not occur. Vick is a "strong" black man. He obtained his strength as a child. This whole situation is merely strenthening him. Some refer to his career in the NFL. The NFL is not "the world" . Life exists beyond the NFL. Vick has a message which he can share with troubled youth. That message is one of hope. That message is "it is never to late to turn your life "around" and go in another direction. Who better to tell it than someone wo has been there. Troubled youth may choose to listen to Vick. Many will identify with him. That message is stronger when it comes from someone who has been there and overcome than someone "reciting" what he has learned. American indians often said "walk a mile in my shoes".
I fear for your sanity if you think Michael Vick is a strong black man. He doesn't represent any of the strong black men that I know.

Example of strong black men abound. Men that fought discrimination and live or lived successful lives with dignity. They were not spoiled, overprivileged athletes who tortured dogs for fun. Give me a break.

If for no other reason they are just as guilty as Vick. They had to KNOW about the dog fighting and choose not to divulge it. Just the mentality of the Vick family. Always innocent they think and will get by with all they can. Think about it, his cousin, his brother and the list goes on who have circumvented the law. Hopefully they will get their just deserves and justice will previal.

As for Vick ever playing football again I hope not. I would not pay a cent to see a felon and agressive personality play. I hope the general public feels the same way. Hopefully we will see Vick do something productive with his life in service to the community rather then continue on a downward spiral.

As far as research goes it is a known fact that dog fighting came from whites and mexicans. So if one black man goes to jail for a crime that is unhuman. Oh well. Leave it alone. If yall want to talk about unhuman. Why did peta kill a whole bunch of dogs and set them in several different garbage cans? Or why does the Spca after a couple of days put the dogs to sleep and them shreds them? Oh, i forgot it is okay because the people are white! Yall people need to get a life and worry about yall own kids and let Brenda worry about hers!
Oh what a sad racist life you live. Believing and thinking of ways to twist EVERYTHING into a racist agenda. LOL....please get over yourself. Most people have got enough to worry about in this world other than how keep a black man down. You give yourself to much credit to think you or Vick warrant the expenditure of that much energy.

Sad, the Vick fans even complained when the Falcons won last night. They don't like Matt Ryan, hmmmm wonder why?
you know I am so grateful with two political candidates that were white and women, that I don't feel I HAVE to vote for either or now one of them because of their physical characteristcs.

A strong "black man" is someone who can overcome the hurdles that are thrown at him whether self-inflected or not. I will continue to say Michael Vick is a strong black man. The question becomes how will Michael
Vick emerge from this saga. One's strength is judged by one's ability to endure and then rise above the situation. Michael's strength as that of many other "black men" will be evidenced by his ability to endure.
"Time will tell." This situation will either break him or make him. I prefer top believe it will make him "a man". Many American youth are hurting. Some have given up. Michael's message would be merely If I can overcome an impossible situation and then turn my life around then you too can. Troubled youth will often listen to someone who has been "there" as opposed to someone who has not. I will not continue to malign Michael Vick rather I hope that he will work with troubled youth.

Doesn't it make you wonder why the majority of people who are polled support the permanent ban of the maggot vick? Doesn't it make you wonder why the laws pertaining to animal cruelty (i.e.dogfighting) are becoming more severe and warrant longer sentences when someone is convicted? Doesn't it make you wonder why you are in the minority when it comes to realizing the true insult to not only animals but humanity when animals are abused and mistreated? It should. It should clue you in to the fact that while the majority of people are becoming more and more civilized and recognize the true despicable nature and associated detrimental impact to society that animal cruelty has, you are unable to do so yourself either due to a lack of morals and character, the inability to feel a normal sense of compassion and caring for a weak, voiceless, and innocent sentient animal, a combination of the above, or some other psychological deficiency.

The laws and associated punishment for animal cruelty ARE being "revisited and amended" on a daily basis. And guess what my unevolved friend, they are going in the exact opposite direction in which YOU think they should be......that's another clue you should take note of to give you an idea where you stand in the area of humanity and civility.

You say you "feel" that the maggot vick was treated unfairly? Too bad. The majority of people and the laws that we, the public, take part in forumulating and enacting say otherwise. If you "feel" that degenerates who fight, kill, and torture animals for fun should receive less than they do now, write to your congressperson and let him/her know. I'm sure they'll get a kick out of it.

And lastly my pompous unevolved wannabe wordsmith, this isn't the Dr. Phil show. If you want to discuss your "feelings" go see a psychiatrist, you seem to be badly in need of one. Maybe a good shrink could help you come to the realization why animal cruelty and abuse are indicative of psychopathic and deviant behavior and regarding it lightly is a deluded thing to do.

What type of "man" makes innocent dogs fight against their will to the death? What type of "man" executes innocent dogs that aren't vicious enough for his sadistic needs by drowning, hanging, beating to death and electrocuting them?

What type of "man" starts, runs, and funds a 7 year long illegal multi-state gambling enterprise risking his million dollar career and ability to care for his family?

What type of "man" commits crimes and then, without blinking an eye, has the audacity to blame his criminal behavior on "friends and family"?

What type of "man" uses marijuana and when caught blames his use on his father, saying his daddy made him feel despondent.

What type of "man" goes around giving women STD's, gets them pregnant and then rides off into the sunset without giving a damn about the consequences?

You have a warped definition of a man, especially a "strong" one. ;-)

Please, don't procreate, we have enough "strong men" in prison already.

Damn jocksniffers..........Jeeeez.

I'm sure his family knew of what was going on with the dogs. They should be made to give the money back. Maybe they can all go to work for one of their local humane societies. That's a good idea for Mike too when he finally gets out. Yes there are other things going on that some people might think is more important and sometimes things are unavoidable but what he allowed these poor dogs to go through could have been prevented, it did not have to happen! He did not need the money he was making with this evil crime. So he gives to charities, that's great, but that doesn't erase what he did to the dogs. It was a sick crime!!!

He's not a strong black man. He's a liar and a murderer. He's been lucky enough to become a pro football player and make millions of dollars but too stupid to realize that he did not need to torture God's animals just to show somebody he's a "thug". Just to make a statement, to prove something. There are some strong black men out there but he is far from it. He needs to take some lessons from the strong black men. I'm glad he got caught and I am so glad some of his dogs have been treated and trained to be what they were meant to be... "lovable pets".

AlleyRat, Let's put on our thinking cap shall we? The TV show "Lassie" ran for 17 yrs. Not including the Lassie movies that were all shot over a period from 1963 to 1994, That's a looong time.(now stick with me) Now if a collie's life expectancy is approximately 12 yrs, the answer would be?

Now read it again and look back at your question. repeat this process till a connection is made. K?

Right. Michael Vick is going to have an epiphany and come out of this a good, compassionate human being. Time will tell.

I don't believe it and think there are better role models than an athlete that has fallen from grace.

My husband's surgeon was a wonderful young black man who performed perfectly, was a joy to talk to, and works to save people. He is one of my heroes.

I have very little sympathy for Michael Vick. Color doesn't matter to me. I have no patience with violence or cruelty.

Michael Vick has a long road to go before he reaches any sort of redemption. I wonder if he is introspective enough to accomplish anything.

Michael Vick did something horrible. There are

Why is it considered "racism" when society gets mad at a black person for committing heinous, ignorant crimes? Where was the "racism" when this same person was drafted into the NFL, given millions of dollars, fame and worshipped by fans of all races? When this spoiled, arrogant, self-serving millionnaire thought he could do as he pleased and break laws, did white society suddenly realize he is black? Do you think white people in general failed to realize he is black until he admitted to torturing and killing his dogs? Oh gee! And all this time the general public thought they were worshipping a....WHAT? You can't have it both ways here. Vick was black when everything was good for him, and he is still black. Trouble is, his heart is blacker than his skin. Anybody who can do to dogs what that man did doesn't deserve any more than he has right now....a prison cell. That isn't racism, that's just the price a human being pays for breaking the law and mistreating God's creation.

There are two sides to every coin, but that doesnt make it right. Dog fighting is illegal and is becoming illegal in many other countries as is c0ck fighting. Fighting dogs and roosters until one is dead and then torturing the ones that do survive is not even comparable to pigs and chickens in processing plants. Did Vick eat the dogs? I seriously doubt it.
