Its about time!!!

Yes, it is about time but let's give Kranitz credit for helping to straighten Daniel out. I just wish he wouldn't flinch after throwing the pitches and could field his position better too. Good game pitched and good win for the O's.

It would have been a shutout (in addition to the complete game) if he hadn't thrown the wild pitch

Yeah, Trembley! NOT AFRAID to go against the book. Complete game for Cabrera last night. Has let the starters complete eight innings on a few other occasions. Bring up a young player from AAA, immediately make him a starter. Thirteen pitchers on the roster. A REAL manager!!!

I just read that this is the first time in EIGHT GAMES that the Orioles have had the game NOT decided by two runs, or less. We lost most of those eight games. If we can start winning half of those close games (two run differential or less) we can EASILY go 86-76.

We all know how Cabrera can be. Spotty performances. Before I jump on his bandwagon I want to see him consistently pitch well. Why has Terry Crowley still have a job?
|
|
I agree, I think that may be DC next step, is learning how to follow thru and feilding his position. I just hope he never takes one in the face like Mussine did or he will be done for good. Great job DC |

It is still a long season. Wait and see if Cabrera can follow with a string of good starts. Jury is still out.

I heard the name Mussina. That rat bastard had a nice home in Mooresville, PA, near Baltimore. His family was VERY happy there. The Orioles offered him $65 Million. The Yankees offered him $85 Million. He uprooted his family, and left the Orioles. Like in the movie, "Wall Street"........ "How many yachts can you water-ski behind?" I have no ill will toward Erik Bedard and Miguel Tejada. They were both traded, neither of whom asked to be. But Mussina? GRRRRRRR!

Lets try to be positive here. I believe that 6 consecutive quality starts qualifies for "consistently pitching well." I'm not sure any other major league pitchers have had 6 consecutive quality starts this year. |
|
WEll when wil they get 100 loses
|
|
I know that a ton of people agree with you on this one...but, as much as I wanted Mussina to stay, who can blame him for leaving? The O's were horrible when he left and they've continued to be horrible. He had spent enough "rebuilding" years with the O's. Why not take an extra $20 million to go work for a winner (even though it was the Yankees, yuck)? |

Cabrera also deserves credit for never complaining, never making excuses, and keeping a positive outlook through some very tough times. More players should have that kind of class. (More fans, too.)

Roberts is catching a little flack about that ugly third strike swing last night while Bynum was on first base. I had the volume muted on my TV so I don't know what the commentators said about it. It looked like a hit-and-run swing and, despite the horrible pitch, Roberts had to swing at it to protect the runner. Is that what it looked like to you guys, too?
|
|
I don't know if I agree with you on this...Mussina was the star during the 96 and 97 years which were not considered rebuilding in the least. If my memory serves me he left in 2000, when the vets were still trying to make something happen...I think it was more how Angelos worked the deal which made him leave. |

::coughBrandonWebbcough:: But yeah, it's great to see DCab pitch so dominantly. Granted, it was only the KC Royals but he looks like he finally gets it. His whole mindset has seemingly changed. He's trying to get guys out, instead of striking people out. He's not wild, and he's got his head on straight. He's also developed a nice breaking ball to compliment his fastball. All good things. It's GREAT to see. I'm torn though - if he keeps this up do we move him by the trade deadline? I think Loewen's injury changes things a bit, but would you flip DCab when he's finally living up to the potential we all knew he had? Tough call, but that's why MacPhail is in charge and not me. |

The jury will be out on DC until end of season. It wont be a matter of wins and losses (run production will decide that), but ERA and quality games. If he keeps this up until the end of the season, Kudos. And you can't say consistently this early. He may botch a game next week, but then pitch 5-6 quality starts. Then that is consistency. It will be interesting how he does after a bad game or two (every pitcher has them a season). Then you will see how he has progressed.

Having been one of Cabrera's harshest critics in the past, I applaud him for his recent pitching, especially last night. Give the man credit. Hope it continues.
