Great article Andrew. Failure to moniter is the charge. Lack of instiutional control will the conclusion. Look out noles. A possible death penalty awaits.

Regardless of the decision, the "death penalty" is a repeat-infraction punishment levied when two major infractions are found within a 5 year period. While FSU's case is serious and may warrant more than the self-imposed sanctions, the death penalty is not going to result from this case. The NCAA also removed the TV ban from its punishment options. Likely scenario seems more scholarship reductions and possibly vacating some previous victories. A post-season ban is a possibility, but not sure how likely.

You fail to accept that this is Bowden's 3rd offense-'83,'94, and now.

Banks, you have some serious issues. It seems as though your life revolves around FSU getting the death penalty. You need to do a bit of research...if you had, you'd realize that the death penalty is really not an option these days. After seeing what happened to SMU after they received the death penalty, the NCAA later said they wish they hadn't done that.

However, because you're so confident that the death penalty awaits, let's make a bet. If FSU receives the death penalty, you can post whatever you want and nobody will dispute your claims, no matter how ridiculous they continue to be. If you are wrong and FSU does not receive the death penalty, then you agree never to post on this or any FSU forum again.

Banks, good Lord you are ate up with FSU bashing! Do you honestly think you're Gators are totaly on the up and up when it comes to academics? Please, we all recruit from the same places. I'll bet you money that just about every division I progrma in the country has some type of "violation", they just haven't gotten caught...yet. Brother, keep throwing rocks and one day you're little glass house in Gainesville will come tumbling down too. Urban is a text message away from getting caught for illegal recruiting, just give it time. He can thank his lucky stars that a certain UF gymnast drank the Koolade and changed her story.

don't waste your time arguing with banks. i learned that a looong time ago. just wait until the final decision comes out, which won't be until november anyway...nobody knows...not banks, not andrew, not you or me. its like saying UF is going to win the Nat'l title. nobody knows...not even david Blane! it is pointless to argue something that hasn't happened yet.

the worst case scenario will be forfeiting games. even though the games don't matter anymore, it still is a pretty serious thing. FSU already has one, but that would be another. The only good that might come from that would be that bobby falls way behind Paterno and realizes he is isn't going to catch him. i just want bobby to go out respectfully, not like tommy just did at clemson. this team needs to be jimbo's team 100% if we are going to progress. its like having your grandpa living with you when you are married and own a house...you already know what you are doing, you don't need someone to nag and state the obvious.

FSU Fan, it continues to amaze me how much you underestimate the power of the N.C.A.A. These rules violations are the most arrogant and flagrant acts ever committed by an institution. You noles are fixing to become a poster child for what's wrong with college sports.

Dear A E Banks, I believe Bobby Bowden totally when he says he has no knowledge of the infractions. If you have heard the Reverand Robert Bowden of Birmingham, Alabama ever speak since around 2002 you would realize that he TRULY does have NO knowledge of what has occured aBOUT ANYTHING.

Watch him as he meanders aimlessly on the sidelines during the game. Every once in awhile he will pick up a headset--probably believes he can listen to Lawrence Welk on them--and the announcers will almost gush orgasmically that "Bobby has the headsets on". Truly remarkable for the head coach of a football team to put on the headsets. Of course when EVERYONE realizes that Blobby is only the CEO-----Right, Bobby can't even spell CEO----and has basilly consigned total decision making to the REAL coach, Jimbo Fischer, WHY have a head set on.

Well, Robert they are almost all FINISHED. Terry, Tommy, Jeffie and little Stevie ALL relegated to non-football activity. Pretty soon the fair, Ann, will have to find other pursuits on a Saturday afternoon or evening. No longer being the center of attention in a skybox or in the stands. OH, the pain of it!!!!

Dear FSU Fan, The enmity directed towards Little Tommy up here in South Carolina was truly something to feel.In fact, I believe a few more tirades are justified and I will tee off on the Bowden Clan again tomorrow morning on WCCPFM in Clemson, South Carolina. Never grow tired of expounding upon the myth that is The Bowdens.

Clemson is a loser school when it comes to football. You will always be the little brother that from time to time thinks he has become just as big and strong as his older brother only to have big brother remind him of where he belongs. Prediction record for your next 100 games 64-36 at best.

Lou: you once again hit the nail on the head! bobby is irrelevant....he doesn't coach and is just an obstacle for jimbo. FSU has talent, just like UM, but has a little better of an offensive mind than UM...tommy had things rolling, but lost steam...tommy is a good coach...a good OC or something...the bowdens are done with football...jeff is gone, terry is gone, tommy is one crappy job from being gone too. i want Jimbo to ruin this team for at least 3-4 years....within that time the 'noles will be in the topr 6 and be considered for a BCS bowl game...
