LOL! I graduated HS in '67. I turned 59 this past Feb. Yes. I have seen alot of football. I'm a 50 yr loyal Pittsburgh Steeler fan.
The loser years and the glory years. I eyeballed the "Imaculate Reception" from the press box. I could bore you with alot of stories from the stands, the sideline, the locker-rooms and the press box.
Yes! November 30th not to avenge the Cheaters, but my man Anthony. Smith is his last name in case you forgot. LOL!
STEELERS ROCK !!!
great stories, hearing about the immaculate reception would be worthy of a paragragh or two here!!!

...no Bill didn't forget Smith's last name...LOL!

Hey Skid. I was wondering when you would be putting your 2 cents in. Specter dropping the case would certainly be great news for you. That sigh of relief from Patsy Land would be felt as a class 5 Tornado. Let me ask you this, if the situation were reversed, how would you feel?
STEELERS ROCK !!!
In my opinion, I think you're wrong. Sen. Specter is on the flip side of what you've described, with his own agenda.

First off: Sen. Arlen Specter is in bed with COMCAST Cable Network (...who is raping the American cable public with its monopoly accessibility and fees where Verizon Fios is NOT yet allowed or available -- but just wait, Verizon FIOS is right around the corner and COMCAST will be dropped in a heartbeat when that happens), who is in a battle with the NFL Network over the broadcast rights for NFL games. This is the only drive pushing the good ol' g-man over this whole issue. He's not even a Squeelers fan, he's an Eagles fan! And the Squeelers, and the rest of the NFL and its fans, are the farthest thing from his mind right now. It all comes down to the politics,$$$(...for election contributions) and all the other corruption within government.

Second off: Sen. Arlen Specter should clean up his own backyard first (i.e., the drug cartel Andy Reid's sons are running out of his house), and then start to concentrate on some important issues (...as a government official) as to why the price of gas has risen from $3.05 a month ago to over $3.50 for the CHEAP SHIT to go into my gas tank first and expected to go up much more before summer's end, and also why we seem to be able to supply a country half-the-fuck-across-the-globe with AID for some weather catastrophe (who, the ungrateful bastards don't even want to accept and hate the U.S.) in a quicker response than we can with OUR OWN people, like from the remnants of Katrina or the rest of the homeless and past and recent war veterans who are fighting to keep their homes or lives together. This senator should be concentrating on the REAL issues first before he wants to stick his nose in private sector shit for the purpose of simply getting local VOTES for the next election because it will suite the fanfare voters of his district. Hope he doesn't have his nose up Roger Clemens ass as far as COMCAST, or we'll never get to the bottom of the whole steroids in MLB issue. I say that sarcastically, for those pundits just waiting to trounce on me with some jackass statement vs. something constructively critical.

Third off: The whole spygate bullshit is getting old. To the knowledge of most, videotaping was always an accepted practice of coaches and the NFL, and also allowed by the NFL. It wasn't until 2007 that it was cracked down upon via the NFL for certain perspectives of the ruling. The original rule was that it was okay to tape an opposing team if the taping wasn't used during the SAME game at which it was taped. The NFL then made some modifications to it in 2007 to also reflect that it was still allowed, but couldn't be taped in certain areas of the stadium under certain camera angles and also for the fact that the team who wished to tape (...typically the Visiting team) had to request approval from the Home team to do. This is true to fact via the short history of the Jets vs. Pats history [i.e., Eric Mangenius (former Pats Offense Coordinator who oversaw Matt Walsh as a member of the Past organization, and who took over when Charlie Weis left for his Notre Dame college football offer) vs. his former superior, Bill Belichik]. The Jets had requested permission to tape at Gillette Stadium from a standpoint deviating from what the NFL still allowed to be taped (i.e., typically the end zone) and were denied by the Pats management. The Pats similarly asked permission from the Jets of the same request and were denied. Both teams, however, followed NFL league regulations and still taped from the designated areas outside from where they really wanted to. It was at the point of the game of the Pats vs. Jets in 2007 in which the Pats photographer was recognized by Eric Mangenius (...as his former superior when working in the Pats organization) and was subsequently reported to the NFL for filming the game (without permission) in the area of filming. Belichick claims the taping of that particular game was filmed outside of the designated area (without permission), but was allowed by the NFL because it was NOT to be used during the SAME game, and therefore was NOT in violation of the NFL rules. Maybe not, maybe so. I don't think we'll ever really know the whole truth. Obviously he (Belichick) differed from the Commissioner's point of view, and so be it, where we're at today with this whole fiasco the NFL is in. Fact: the games at which the Pats filmed over the years predominantly prove by actual score that they didn't win. The game at which the Jets filmed in their playoff run in year's prior -- same outcome, they didn't win. Conclusion: filming of a game in which the team wishes to use that film for an advantage for the second half is pretty much useless (...largely based on the fact that there is only approx. 12 minutes between halves); largely for the fact that MOST SMART teams CHANGE their signals up from game to game -- to stay above the competition curve and any taping practices (...which is still allowed TODAY by the NFL, with permission of the HOME team and in designated areas of the stadium).

So, the teams which fell asleep at the wheel and didn't stay above the curve with respect to the film taping; shame on them. Sorry! Perhaps they shouldn't be in the positions they are currently in. They do not possess the ability to stay above the curve and mix things up to maintain strategy superiority. Anyone think signal stealing isn't done in baseball? Case in point! Impossible to patrol, so it happens. Take a closer look at the runner on second base with batter up at the plate next time around; just for starters.

Fourth off: If no other team did it, as some would like to claim,...shame on them for not taking advantage of the rules given to get that extra edge. Also, where are all the coaches of those teams NOW?! I would think that they would ALL be OUTRAGED over this news of prior years taping to the point that they would certainly have the balls to stand up for what is right and speak their peace now. But, silence seems to be the practice as of late. Is it that they're too afraid -- pussies? Or, are they not wanting to speak up for the fear of any of their own old past or present videographers having some sort of secret collection taken on their own time and dime?

Look forward to any "serious" commentary or response. For those who only have the ability to post jackass statements or put-downs, "save it". I won't read the entire post or respond. Just letting you know in advance. You know who you are...

No worries Buddy. Its done it to me before too. I would like to end this bicker with the Patriots. They cheated, its proven and done. They're cheaters and will be looked on with disdain for the 2007 and 2008 season for the rest of time. That would make a fan like me (if I were sorry enough to be a Patriots fan) embarrassed enough. Not that it would actually happen, but imagine if that kind of plight were to happen to the Steelers. It would be difficult to remain a fan. Especially after going an entire 2007 season undefeated and losing the SB.

We need to let our play dictate our smack talk on these forums. Not our issues on the sidelines. Obviously, the Patriots could say we have more criminals on our team than football players.

Lets let the fight come on Thursday and Monday nights, on Sunday afternoons. And we'll see where the dust falls afterwards. I know a Patriots fan. He's worried that his defense has turned to swiss cheese. And worried he should be. The players the Patriots were fortunate enough to keep, were alive when oil was dinosaurs. They reinforced through the draft...but they won't be as good as last year. IMHO

Lets let these hot coals simmer, and focus on next season. I'm excited about the Steeler's addition to their offense. Am worried about both our lines, of course...but that's a common sentiment in the Steeler Nation.

On a side note, Buddy...My last comment was a defense to your stand, not an assault as it may have seemed. Yes the Patriots will make it back to the playoffs. They will dominate, but in the end, will lose to a team with more HEART. Be it Jacksonville, the Chargers, or my coveted Steelers. They will not win a Super Bowl while this looms over their head.

Perhaps we're fortunate for that. But I feel somewhat dirty when I say it.

I was thinking the same thing. When I see a post(s) like that, I generaly read first sentence of each paragraph or such, especially if it sounds like a bunch of blither blather.

Without a doubt! Well, the 13th is on Tuesday. Hopefully Goodell will get a grip on the situation and spell everything out to Specter's satisfaction. For the sake of the NFL I just hope it gets handled properly before Specter really gets involved.

There's no way Goddell is going to touch this any more unfortunately. NFL offices is saying nothing new even before they see tapes or here testimony, Pats owner and Belicheck 'apologize' at the march meeting, Goddell conviently waits till after the draft to view more evidence- oops can't take the other pick now, aw schucks, the NFL power structure- Rooney and the most senior ownwers plus competition committee- claim its over and done at the march meeting.
Bob, don't hold your breath on this one, you might get dizzy and pass out for nothing- life is not fair, unless your a Pats lover- then you wonder what's gonna happen to you after all this tainted good fortune ends. I'd stay away from tall trees during lighting storms!:-)

Jopa I found this link on another board. Tony Dungy comes out on the Pats and Spygate in the bottom portion of the report. For all of you Pats fans in case you did'nt know Dungy began his NFL career as a player then coach with the Pittsburgh Steelers under Chuck Noll...

Thanks Mr. Dung. I could'nt put it in more easy to understand terms. Do you Pats fans get it now?

Point well taken. I don't think some of the spammers in this forum can hold a conversation beyond a couple of insult sentences as it is, nevermind comprehend anything written outside of the confines of a comic book. Case in point via some of the posts following yours. Kind of expected it though. I think their one in the same person anyways, as you can sense the same overtone of their diatribe -- nothing much to say, just a bunch of posers. It's all good though..., job security for people who can put together a sentence or two. lol. Cheers.

No harm, no foul. It's all good. You may be right. Time will tell. Pats will make playoff run by default of its divisional competition. I agree with you mostly, but think it's going to be the time for the Chargers or Jacksonville to win from the AFC, or perhaps it may be Dallas' time to win one for the NFC. I look forward to next season on a two-sided front: 1.) to see just how the Pats psyche recovers from last season's ultimate loss in the SB and the aftermath of the spygate controversy; and 2.) to see how they will fare against some of the other teams out there who's fanbase, as rediculous posers as they may sound, seem to predict will give the Pats a smackdown (...like that whopping 3-point ass-kicking win in the SB, eh?!! LOL). So, I agree with you in that, "Lets let the fight come on Thursday and Monday nights, on Sunday afternoons. And we'll see where the dust falls afterwards." Should be an interesting season, to say the least.
