This is your only argument? Weak, SO weak. Yes, the Gators dropped one to Ole Miss - MOVE ON!!! We still kicked the crap out of the #4 team in the country!! Suck on THAT!

I think UF still has a shot although not a great one. First of all, they have to win out. Is that even 60% likely?

Second, if they have 1 loss, they will have trouble jumping other teams. A one-loss Big 12 team (Oklahoma, Texas-if they lose-, or even Missouri) would stay ahead of UF based on stronger conference. Yes, the Big12 is stronger.

And, I don't see any way the Gators jump an undefeated Penn State (if that even happens). Despite a weaker schedule, the Big 10 is still a major conference and an undefeated season still would mean more than 1 loss in the SEC. Sorry.

Finally, the fact that they lost to Ole Miss will do to them what losing to Stanford did to USC last year. Period.

Still, look at last year..so you never know.

I still think that the team needs to shake things up with the staff and the quarterbacks. We should go after Tony Franklin while he is still on the market.

Because UM & FSU had such impressive wins this week. Even USF is ranked.

USC lost to Oregon last year after they lost to Stanford, which is what eliminated them from the NT chase.

Come on people, this is sports, not Chinese Calculus. Just use a little logic...

The BCS rankings aren't even out yet.

Assuming the BCS poll will look like the AP poll;

(1)Texas will lose at least one of the next 5 games.
(2)Alabama Has to play both LSU and SEC East champ.
(3)Penn St probably won't be ranked as high in the BCS.
(4)Oklahoma Still has a pretty tough schedule, but will probably finish with one loss which won't matter because with Texas' one loss, they are out of the Big 12 game which eliminates their chance of a NT.
(5)Florida has Georgia and possibly an SEC game if they win.

If Florida wins out, they will have beaten 3 teams that have been ranked in the top 4 at some point in the season... which leave only one team left, which they will get the chance to beat in the NT game.

there is no question... If UF finishes the season with only one loss, they will be in the NT game.

Now the hard part, execute!

Forget all this about a national championship... it's beyond our control.

Forget about getting to the SEC Championship... it will take care of itself if we...

Take care of the task at hand.

Now is the time to get healthy and prepare for Kentucky.

And when that game is over, we begin to prepare for Georgia, and so on.

And play with the passion we had for LSU every game, which is what seemed to be missing from the earlier games.

I am a alumni of The University of Florida and I think that the program is underachieving the past couple of years. I expects Florida to contend for the SEC and national championships each year. We just aren't getting the hardware like we did in the 90s. I think that many of the alumnis share my views about the program. We needs some sort of spark to get the Gators together again as one. I told some people who were booing at the game (the Miss game) that Gators don't boo Gators because we can still win the SEC. I expects us to win it this year and everyear.

We? What position do you play team apologist? Ole Miss stomped on your collective gator heads in your stadium. LSU is not the number 4 team myopian, they stink. They have two wins over D1 teams both of which are weak SEC West teams. By your dumb logic teams that have wins over West Virginia, Clemson and Auburn should get credit for wins over top 10 teams. LSU is nothing compared to last year, but don't let that stop you from kissing the feet of your Herbman Meyer statue. Unfortunately, LSU will still finish ranked since they play in the weak SEC West and their out-of-conference schedule is filled with easy teams (how very SEC of them to play weak non-conference games).

I agree with Marko, look at some school like Texas and how they do not play anybody strong. I mean look at the current four game stretch they just started last Saturday.
#1 Oklahoma
#11 Missouri
#7 Oklahoma State
#8 Texas Tech
Then later in the year they play #16 Kansas

How about the BCS just go ahead and give them a free pass to the championship game. Come on, play somebody Texas.

Ohio State? You mean the same Ohio State that struggled against Ohio U and an abysmal Wisconsin? Yeah okay, knock that one off your list.
You mean the same USC that got dominated by Oregon State, even without their starting QB? The same USC that doesn't have one ranked opponent for the rest of the year? Yeah, knock that one off your list, too.
Texas has to play Mizzou, OK State and Texas Tech, so those teams will take care of themselves.
While I'm not an idiot nor do I expect Florida to go to the national title game this year (we have tough games of our own looming ahead), you are an idiot for not realizing my above points.
I will say I believe the Big 12 is the toughest conference this year, but the SEC is at least tied second with the PAC 10 if not better.
Sounds like yet another envious scUM or FSU fan just praying for anything to keep the Gators down.
Not so fast my friend, why do you feel the need to call me an idiot? Do you have anger problems? Perhaps you take sports too seriously. Ohio State has big matchups with Michigan State and Penn State looming, their loss was on the road to USC, if they finish with one loss they will be in the conversation. USC has just one loss, on the road, and even an idiot could see they are ranked ahead of Florida in the Coaches Poll. Most people recognize that a home loss is worse than a road loss.

And most people recognize that Ole Miss has taken Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, and South Carolina to the wire. Ohio State should not be mentioned even if they do finish with one loss. That ship sailed... for the last three years.

I would love to see the Gators pound the Trojans in Miami! I just don't see it happening since USC is bound to lose another. To many NFL prospects worrying about their draft position to play as a team and win.

Bottom line is, Ole Miss did not beat the Gators, THE GATORS beat themselves!! Ole Miss is by far, not the better team in comparison - the Gators just played a bad game that day. I would take a re-match any day against Ole Miss this year & feel confident that the Gators would be victorious! Now, can you GET OVER IT & move on? Gators can't do anything about a game played two weeks ago, but they CAN win every game for the rest of the year - win the SEC & hopefully get a BSC NC bid. What can Ole Miss hope for?

Oh, surprise---another undefeated Big 10 team is likely to make it to the BCS Championship game . . . and get crushed by whatever SEC/Big 12/Pac-10 team that happens to show up.

University of Florida Ranks High in Recent NCAA Graduation Success Rates
Gainesville, Fla.- Tuesday October 14, 2008
Six University of Florida athletic teams scored a perfect 100 percent Graduation Success Rate and the overall athletic program produced an 87 percent Graduation Success Rate in data released from the NCAA Tuesday.

Fourteen of 16 Gator athletic programs turned in a rate above the national Division I average and the overall athletic program was nine points above the national average.

Southeastern Conference Program's GSR School
Student-Athlete GSR

Florida
87%

Alabama
77%

Georgia

LSU

Arkansas
68%
The Graduation Success Rate (GSR) is a NCAA measurement that improves on the federally mandated graduation-rate by including transfer data in the calculation. It was developed in response to college and university presidents who wanted graduation data that more accurately reflect the mobility among students in today's higher education climate.

The most recent Graduation Success Rates are based on the four entering freshmen classes in Division I from 1998-99 through 2001-02.

I would imagine that the football & baseball scores were hurt in some way b/c some athletes go pro before graduating.
