Spart, you are right about Crosby, I also think it is over for him.
Bowan and Savard I agree with but they are not interested from what I heard on news
Patrick Roy I think will do well as a coach, maybe even for the Canadiens it would not bother me if they gave him a shot.......but no freaken way as the GM...which is way over his head.
Are you kidding about Ruff and Nolan. Do they even speak french? These guys are coaches, not GM's. Keep in mind a GM needs to be a business man and not just a hockey person. This is why Pollack and Bowman and Savard were all good GM's in my opinion.

You guys have a higher opinion of savard in the gm spot than i do. I think he was the begining of the habs problems of today. He is the one who started the trading for stars from other teams ,way of building. He is the one that ignored the draft building way of Sammy pollock.Homegrown draft picks is what made the habs a power house for so long. Trading for others stars [a lot of times others problems] depletes your minor league development, which catches up to a team.. thus we have a real mess because trying to trade your way out of trouble gets you high priced gomez, unhappy cammeleri and under acheiveing giontas etc. just my opinion though pureplay

IMO you are right about how he left I remember clearly how badly we all wanted him{Savard} out of there...but the problems origin IMO are REJEAN HOULE who made bad deal after bad deal after bad deal and as far as free agency and drafting goes set this tema back 40 years at least.
I will elaborate with details later on this.
but you are right, of the bunch I listed Savard is the weakest choice. he had his shot and failed miserably as well.

I'm new so I'm not yet tired of ranting, lol. But my first comment was supposed to be a rant, evening it came across as one. I could have summed it up more politely by saying he's less of a business person than I would like as a GM.
I think Roy would be interesting, if not the best choice for the Habs. Not sure he would go for it, but would stir things up and give folks a chance to make amends.
Pplay, good work disarming my aggressive tone, you have earned my respect, even if you do like McGuire, lol.
I'm a bruins fan, so I'm hoping they get the worst person for the job, heck give it to Pierre!(I kid)
In all honesty, I hope they get it figured out and we see some great original six matches in the near future.

Roy has no experience as a coach and as a GM in the NHL. He is no executive and that is what the GM is supposed to be. Same argument you guys use on McGuire....no experience you say Spart.
Savard did win a few cups so you cannot say too many bad things about him now.

No offense to anyone...but I never did like SAVARD. I really dont know who I would like. CALL me a freak of Jesus....But there is one thing about ROY that I have allways like...And thats his raw passion to win...The man hates to loose...something this team has come accustomed to.
Doesnt Roy own a team in Quebec? He coached his team didnt he? Hes won 3 or 4 stanley Cups. So he does have experience..just not at the NHL level. But to get to the NHL you need to come up through the league.
I think he would at least make a good assistant G.M. He has that same attitude as BRIAN BURKE... Calls it as he sees it, wears his emotions on sleave.... This team needs that badly!!!!
AS for a gm...they first need to bring in a fresh face..

I traded a full set of proset 1993 cards to my uncle for a box of old random cards. I found some rare cards in the pile, there was a Gretzky 2nd and 3rd year, each worth a few bucks, and a roy rookie, worth around a hundred St the time. My father made me give the roy rookie to my older brother cause I was a bruins fan and he was a habs fan, I was choked. I've never forgiven him for that. Lol. Lame.

I agree Roy has the passion to win and is a bit of a phsycho. I don't mind giving him a shot as the coach...I think he may be able to handle that if he doesn't drive himself crazy because of the media pressure. BUT, no way as a GM. You need to be very savvy, smart, and have ability to lead, formulate and execute strategy and more traits that you would see in a CEO of any successful company. Roy is nowhere near that level.

What about an assistant??
Everything you said above is exactly what Gauthier isnt. Saying that Steve yzerman jumped into the GM position and turned tampa around the first year and stole one of our goalie prospects....
I see what your saying Pureplay and it just makes everyone correct when we say " WHY NOT AN ENGLISH SPEAKING GM...because there is no good French ones!!!!!

Labatts I agree in theory. But this simply will not happen here in Quebec. The GM must speak french. You have seen what happened with Cunneyworth. As for Tampa, Yzerman was in the front office quite a few years after his retirement...I think he was even an assistant GM so by the time he was hired by Tampa he was definitely ready. Plus the Detroit management is the best in the NHL so he was trained very well. Mind you it's not going too well this year for him or Boucher, but I am sure they will both have great careers as coach and GM. Gauthier cannot even communicate like an executive should. He should never ever be a GM again....and I will bet that no one will ever hire him in the NHL again. Sort of like Guy Carbonneau who I believe will never be an NHL coach again.

I can agree with all that. Its to bad really...Montreal should be in the same position admistratively as Detroit...Although Montreal did have an ownership change...but I doubt that would effect much.
There so much we dont know as fans...all we can really do is guess and say what we would do if we were G.M.....Which would be still better than dipsh*t Guathier Lol.
I wouldnt doubt if Molson keeps it just the way it is and doesnt dump Gauthier.... He doesnt have enough Balls to make a stand and say enough is enough...WTF has happened here....
But all we can do is hope...Feb 27th is fast approaching and Guathier knows his time is running out.....
