The article above says it all. I support the idea of Pierre McGuire as the GM of the Canadiens. He is the top hockey mind in the game right now, he knows every GM in the game, he has had success as a management person in Pittsburgh, he has the 100% backing of the best coach and builder in the last 30 years in Scotty Bowaman, he is bilingual and is from Montreal ....he is a young guy who has a lot of life and pep in him which we really need here ....and the best is that he is a true FAN of the Montreal Canadiens. He cannot possibly do worse than the bozos that have been here since Savard was GM. There is absolutely no reason he should not be the GM. He is a very passionate guy, very focused and driven. He should be given the chance. Anyone agree....disagree?

Unless you can send this to Geoff Molson directly...maybe slip it under his door; I doubt this will happen.
The ownership is just as F*cked if not more than the G.M
After reading that story I dispise Gauthier even more. I'm not 100% sold on McGuire...although you made some good points and the story seems truthful and to good to be true.
Why havent other struggle teams hired him?
I guess I am just getting tired of Montreal trying new outrages things and F**cking it up royally!!!!
Its like they get off trying something outrages, to see if it turns out okay so that it looks like they know what the chr*st their doing!!!
If it helps the team then YES Pureplay. But if I was mcguire I would demand control of operations and fire every scout they have.

Hey Labatts... I don't know why he has not been hired. He has been runner up 3 times I believe. I heard an interview from Scotty Bowman and he is very keen on McGuire and seems to think that he is very capeable and a brilliant raw hockey mind. I want a guy like that here, especially since he is a Montreal boy. Maybe others have labelled him as a " TV Guy ". You have a great point, if it happens he needs the control and autonomy to manage the ship.

I did not say he was born in Montreal. I consider him a Montreal boy because his wife is from Montreal and he lived in Montreal for several years and knows Montreal extremely well. You know what I mean Ryan..

While Pierre Mcguire is in fact "Hockey Wise" I disagree completely that he is the games top hockey mind and it is my opinion that half the stuff he rants about at least, IMO...he has completely wrong. He is Impulsive, far too impulsive for me to think he is any kind of answer in Montreal. But ya gotta love the knowledge he DOES have and his overaLl enthusiasm is somethign this team needs lots of.

Not only is he full of enthusiasm, and hockey knowledge, he's full of himself and full of shit. McGuire would rather spend 60 minutes trying to convoke people how smart he is than 2 minutes looking objectively at a hockey game. He might have plenty of hockey awareness, but it's all for naught because of his need for approval. I wouldn't let him near my team If I had one

Ozzy ....what makes you the authority on McGuires needs for approval? Are you a doctor of psychology or something? I could really care less...everyone is searching for acceptance and approval in their lives including you and me. To all the guys who hate McGuire, why don't we just stick to the facts, the hockey facts..... -What makes a good GM? -Very good communicator -Experience with championship teams/cup winners -Extremely knowledgeable about hockey operations at every level of the game -Very good connections and Networking ability around the league Cammon guys....this guy has the technical knowledge and the networking abilities around the league to be a fantastic GM. He knows everything that is going on. He has a very smart hockey mind and understands the concept of planning, strategy, execution, and the big picture. This guy has the most potential of anyone right now. The best minds in the history of the game are Scotty Bowman and Sam Pollack. Bowman has publicly endorsed and supported McGuire as GM material. I don't know anyone that does not have respect for the hockey mind of Scotty Bowman. His support must mean something. 100% I vote for Molson to chase this guy and get him here as GM

ok sticking to the facts
McGwire is WRONG flat out 95% of the time
McGwire has tons of enthusiasm and is a good but extremely loud and annoying commentator at best.
McGwire knows niothing about what would make the habs a better team becayse all he does is praise the Smurphs.
McGwire has about 25% of the qualitites required for the job at hand.
McGwire has ZERO exoperience as a coach or GM in the NHL.
McGwires Technical abilties are completely unknown to me, and I suspect hundreds of thousands if not millions more Candians let alone everyone in the NHL.
McGwore has THE ABSOLUTE LEAST potential as aGM than ANYONE OTHER GM AVAUILABLE RIGHT NOW TO THIS TEAM!!!
PERIOD END OF STORY !!!

100% I vote for Molson to chase this guy and get him here as GM I'm no authority, but I call it how I see it. If your need for approval motivates you most, than you are not a good communicator, In regards to you point that he is a good communicator, I disagree. That would entail the ability to listen and make decisions on the fly. All I've seen outta McGuire are preset comments that he devises before the game, and reinforces ad nauseum throughout a game. This speaks to your point about his strategy and planning skills. But it makes him a horrible communicator and decision maker. As for his. Knowledge of hockey. I'm not convinced that he is an authority. I might seek him out from time to time as a consultant. But would not let him manage my team. I am not a dr. Of pschology. But I do have an honorary Phd in common sense.
