Ok, we missed out on BF -- lets try for Chad Pennington. 10 TD's and 9 INTS with a passer rating of 86.1, and 1,765 yards last season is still an improvement over rex.

New Packers slogan: "Winning isn't everything. We need to move on." Still can't understand how GB is so positive that years of holding a clipboard make Rodgers worthy of being installed as the starting QB without even letting Favre compete for the job. Oh well, GB's stupidity can only benefit the Bears.

The saga of Mike McCarthy the coach way and owner of the Green Bay packers is hilarious. McCarthy and Thomson think they made Bret Favre and the packers a great team last year. Listen empty brains McCarthy Bret Favre made you not the other way around. It is good that Bret was able to escape the dumb management of the packers. They may win 4 games this year and Favre could win the super bowl with the guidance from the New York Jets management. This will be entertaining watching the Rogers quarterback being sacked 12 times a game. This lanky lump is slow and stupid a perfect McCarthy clone. The real question is will McCarthy and Thomson be fired before the end of the losing season. Enjoy this debacle packer fans.

I love it! The only thing better than Favre sticking it to the Packer Fans the way he did is the fact that he is going to fall on his face with the Jets. What a total pathetic embarrassment he turned into. If he ever took the time to get professionally diagnosed I believe he would find that he is bi-polar. He needs to be medicated not placated.

Billy Hewitt, Ted Thompson is not the Packers' owner. The fans own the team, and they wanted Brett back. Regardless, Thompson needs to be slapped upside the head for this trad decision! That they even allowed the trade to happen in the first place is deplorable, but unbelievable the trade made. A 4th round pick???? I know it can escalate, but we're talking a 3-time MVP, 1st ballot Hall of Famer, and like the article states, a QB that was in the top quarter of QBs last year. Their job is to put the best team on field to contend for the Super Bowl, and that team is with Favre, not Aaron Rodgers. It's going to be a long season as a Packers' fan. The only thing that would have made it worse is if he had become a Bear or Viking.

It will be highly interesting to see how Aaron Rogers plays this year, if he's just mediocre than the Pack management team set themselves up for a big fall.
If he's pretty good or great, than the Bears should sh--can their entire management team for never being able to evaluate QB talent.

Considering he's missed two weeks of camp, and has to learn a completely different (and hugely complex) offense, I wouldn't put a ton of eggs in the Favre basket. IF he sticks around til next year he might get them farther.
One thing is for sure, he'll find out how easy the midwest media was on him the first time he tosses a pick in the end zone at the end of a game.

The distraction is over. The Packers will not be competitive in 08-09; they were never going to be. They need a year of rebuilding. Favre is his own worst ememy, playing the hokey-pokey with his career for years. "Looks like I'll retire...I guess I won't... Maybe I will... no not this time, yes, no I'm retired... Just kidding! Take me back."
He's now in the AFL - almost a football league, and having to start from scratch. I give him one year. And I agree with the idea to pursue Pennington for the Bears. Real potential there!

We think he is washed up, but we do not want the Bears, Lions or Vikings to get our washed up quarterback.

There are other less well known facets to the deal. If Jimmy Hoffa is discovered buried under the goalposts, then Green Bay gets a sixth round pick. If the Constitution is amended to allow Bush another term and he wins, then Green Bay gets a fifth round pick. If Joe Willie Namath stays sober all year, then Green Bay gets a fourth round pick.........

This is decent news for the bears. It's really not going to help much though.

Lombardi would also be the first guy to ship Favre off if he would have pulled the crap he pulled on Thompson and McCarthy. Remember Jim Taylor?

Is Jerry Krause on the packers payroll as an adviser?
Start the Ted Thompson firing clock now. While Favre is at the end of his career, he is still better than A. Rogers will ever be.
Too much pride and hubris in the packer brass in thinking they have control over the team success. Like the NBA, the NFL is all about *player* talent at the QB position and not the coaching position.
As a bear and general chicago sports fan it is refreshing to see other organizations get infected with the brain dead front office affliction, something chicago has seemed to corner the market on.
Cheers to the Thompson and McCarthy train rolling down the track to a 6-10 season and a last place finish.

Well apparently the Packers don't think Farve is washed up and still percieve him as a threat or they would had considered a trade to another division team. I am not a Brett Farve fan, nor have I ever been, but I do believe that he is close to the greatest quaterback who ever stepped on a football field. The Packers should have treated much better in this situation. Shame on them
