There are many broken-hearted fans in Detroit today - myself included.

I know there are stories swirling about Pudge's age and diminishing ability, but the first time he guns down a young wannabe base-stealer in a close game, you'll see what that old man's arm can do. It's a beautiful sight.

Take good care of him, you lucky Yankee fans.:)

I think this deal is a gamble for both teams. Detroit obviously thinks it can still make the playoffs with Brandon Inge behind the plate and the Yankees believe that they can add players to their bullpen from Scranton that will supplant what Farnsworth has done for us over the past couple of months. When it comes down to it, I applaud the Yankees for having faith in their youth for once and we'll have to see how this all works out. But I am excited that the young pitchers are being given a chance.

Mr. Davidoff:

Did someone drop you on your head? In case you haven't noticed, the bottom of the Yankee line-up hasn't done much of anything. Molina and Moeller are automatic outs. I-Rod is a great addition to the bottom of that line-up. If it doesn't work out, he's gone at the end of the year, but I believe this trade has "David Justice" written all over it.

No way Posada is ready for spring training at age 37! His catching days are over. Thanks to Crashman, the Yankees have a $13M part-time DH/1B with mediocre #'s for that position. Resign Pudge for at least 1 yr til youngsters may be ready!

and shouldn't get meaningful innings. What has he given up, 11 home runs in 45 innings this year??

Between Ramirez, Veras, Robertson, Marte, and maybe Melancon, you've got a good bullpen. You're never throwing Farnsworth in a high leverage situation, and if the Tigers are stupid enough to, by all means let them.

i'm on the fence w/this tradxe. coulda take it or leave it both sides of argument have validity. i wanted Pudge 5 yrs ago, before he went to Detroit. alwys thought he was a better assett than Posada. i like posada but his arm behind plate was subpar. although in the AL East ya wantd a catcher with a strong bat. now the Al East has changed. Tampa, Boston, everyone has speed. i liked the job Molina was doing back there. i can deal with a platooning spot in lineup. his arm saved a lot of runs from scoring. will Pudge do job, yeah prob, but he aint what he was. we'll see how his arm is, his bat, and his ability to take a knock play @ the plate.
as for farns...i cringed whenever he came into a tight game but he HAS been doing the job lately. he'll prob come back here w/Detroit as closer and stick it to us but hopefully Pudge contributes on both sides.
the trade-just kinda see it as unneccessary. again, nto a bad move but not needed. Molina was doing fine. what happens to himnow-does he still play well when he gets to play. he called great games and did well witht he pitching staff.
I'm with you in part Man, but I never liked Farnsworth and I see IROD as a means of providing insurance. If Molina were to get hurt, then what?
The offense has sputtered at times and IROD will fill in a spot that was basically an automatic out.
I like the deal!

With Giambi probably gone after this season, I think IROD will get a 1 yr deal to catch and Jorge will play 1B.

Seriously! One of the dominant setup men in baseball? Please! It took a month of good pitching to bring his ERA down to 3.65! That's a good ERA for your 8th inning guy? And then suddenly he melts down against the Sox?

Good riddance.

Farnsworth blamed his problems on he little confidence that Torre showed in him. As far as I can tell he still can't be trusted in close games, and with the Al East a 3 team race this year, the Yanks have to focus on the relievers that they can count on. Not the ones that throw straight 95 mph fast balls that clear monument park

this paper is horrible, farnsworth is a big time 8th inning reliever??? hahahahaha, he is garbage. he never comes in in a big spot with men on base and gets a big out, he is put in spots where he cant fail.....he comes in when they are up by 2 and no one on, and when he does give up the usual hr, mariano comes in to save the day....this is a great trade for the yanks!!!!!!

i guess in my naiveness i never pondered the thought of "if Molina gets hurt". good call. i dont think posada comesback next yr to catch either. i say Pudge gets offered a deal but at what cost. i say 2 yr deal at most and 6M per.(sounds like alot but going rate)
wont be suprised if giambi gets offered a 1 yr deal for round 3-4 M.

i loved how he check swung yest to bloop the ball over SS into left field. that was great.
