From the Sidelines: Could hard schedule pay off?

Why is it every time our taem in aztec does something good,they always have to be bashed on. I would have to say last year they proved themselves with PV come on editor dont be a hater.

We will just have to wait and see. It is very possible you will walk in and beat us up (I think not). I think it won't be quite that easy, as we have prepared with a hard season and a strong desire to beat you! It just gets really old listening to everybody slobber allover Aztec just because they are handing it to inferior teams so far this year. Just because you beat us last year really doesn't mean you proved anything with PV, remember we beat you in 2006. Get ready for a game...

In 2006 wow!!! Good job on the beating Aztec 2 years ago!!!! How can anyone say that the paper slobbers all over Aztec???? Anyone who reads the paper would know that the PV is the paper's baby. Like this article.....I mean seriously has it ever occured to anyone that no one wants to play Aztec? Aztec tries to get a stronger schedule but no one wants to play them...Sliver pulled out of their contract early because they didn't want to lose to Aztec. No 5A teams wants to play Aztec because if they lose it looks bad on them and if they win it does nothing for them because Aztec is 4A. I think the PV game will be good one no doubt. But don't think for one minute PV will just rollover Aztec!

Aztec's schedule may not be as tough as other teams schedules, but did you ever consider why? Many teams are afraid to play Aztec early in the season becuase they do not want to lose. Aztec is a dominating team in this state and many teams do not want to play them unless they absolutely must. It is not a matter of buildnig confidence by playing mediocre teams. Just because PV has been losing to teams that are supposedly "good" does not mean that Aztec would lose to those same teams if even given the chance to play them. Just because other teams are afraid of Aztec's explosive offense, lead by my brother senior WR Trev Hammargren, and their tough defense does not mean that they are trying to go through the season unchallenged.

You are kidding right TODB? Mayfield is afraid of getting beat, I'm sure coach bradley from FHS will make sure to pass this along to his brother. That was a good one. LMAO Just so you know, I personally think Aztec is the best team in the state right now, they have tons of weapons and are well coached. Oh, and guess what I'm a PV fan and supporter. Don't get me wrong, I hope our kids take one game at a time and if the opportunity presents itself as a district championship game on Nov. 7, I hope our boys win. This is a very tough district and believe it will be well represented in the state playoffs. But for you to go on a public forum and say "Mayfield, Rio Rancho and Alamo are afraid of getting beat." that is funny. Gee, it's too bad PV, KC, FHS are in Aztec's district because they HAVE to play them, I'm sure they would run scared too along with Mayfield, Rio Rancho and others if given the opportunity. NOT!!! Quit passing the buck on your schedule, if you really wanted those opponents you could've got them. Maybe you can beef it up a little more next year, maybe add Navajo Prep and drop Belen so you can outscore all your opponents by 50+.
And for those of you who claim the paper is biased, give me a break. There are 2 freakin' reporters to cover this whole county and I think they do a good job of being balanced. I hear it from PV people all the time that the Daily Times is an FHS paper or an Aztec lover. whatever, they asked for people to step up and help cover games, have you stepped up, if not don't knock the 2 individuals who are trying to cover all kids and promote athletics in our communities, for gods sake they even did an article about a shiprock kid a few weeks ago, but I'm sure that's not good enough for their fans either. and the funny thing is neither one is from this area, so it's not like they have ties to any one school. Keep covering HS sports, I'm sure these bashers would love to be ABQ, as the journal doesn't give HS sports the time of day like our paper does.

Not afraid of ruining their reputation - tried to get Mayfield and Rio Rancho use to have Almagordo and Mt Rose - not like we haven't tried just didn't happen this year

So since I'm an Idiot what about the loses that PV was handed by the Tigers before then? PV has won what once or twice in the last 6 meetings with Aztec??? Clearly a PowerHouse!!!

PV vs DURANGO 43-36
AZTEC vs DURANGO 52-12

that is the exact same team pv and aztec played. only difference, pv played them at home. Looks like that "tough" schedule proved itself. think before you speak. I know its hard always having to look to the top and see aztec, you might as well get used to it. o and FYI aztec was turned down by mayfield, and rio rancho. they may not of been scared to play the tigers but they did accept pv's invitation. warm up game for them i suppose.
