Only learn 4 routes last year? Too bad he couldn't manage that. Another clueless money grubbing jerk. I have no sympathy for him. Guess he didn't learn about contracts while he was Miami.

Is Hester being ridiculous? Absolutely! Are so-called fans who say "PAY THE MAN!" just as absurd? ABSOLUTELY!

I have ZERO percent sympathy for ANY and ALL professional athletes. They play the ridiculous game of "I am being disrespected making only (insert absurd number here) or, I have to take care of my family," as they live in a mansion with 22 bedrooms and an 18 car garage.

Look, they are ENTERTAINERS plain and simple. The "regular" working people tune in on Sundays to the NFL or MLB or NBA because it is escapist entertainment...the real pathetic losers are those who live and die by their "team." Of course these are the same fans lacking in common sense who put all their money toward season tickets they can't afford, while their home goes into foreclosure.

There needs to be a radical shift in how fans view professional sports because these athletes are so far removed from the common man that they are baffled when the fans don't support them 100% when they cry poor, while making more then we will EVER make it our lifetime.

The h e l l with Hester & Uralcher.

It's hard to find sympathy for somebody that makes close to 200 times more each year than I do, and I cannot even afford to see the team when they go to Dallas this year.

That being said, Hester does have the skills to warrant a new contract, but a hold out after only the second year? Nope, cannot feel sorry for him.

Yes, all you idiots equating $450K to your pathetic, talentless lives need to stop. Educator...a more accurate question for you is would you teach 5th grade for 3K per year? Hester is one tackle away from being Leslie Frazier in the Super Bowl. He has talent that no one in the world has and the Bears want him to take 1/10 of what he is worth. It's called capitalism and he has the Bears over a barrel...pay him!

It's not about whether or not he deserves a new contract (he does), it's his method of going about it. That is what makes him dumb. His comment about not being able to live on $445,000 a year was just plain insensitive to all who live on a lot less. Suck it up Hester.

Why sign a contract if you're not going to live through the expectations. I'm beginning to think that all athletes should be on one-year contracts. If they have one great year, they're going to complain anyway.

This should have been the same for Urlacher and everyone else. The right thing to do is to play out your contract and be where you're supposed to be under your current contract expires then you can complain, but the team still owns you. Professional sports has gone down the drain.

You or I in teh REAL WORLD would be meet the terms and conditions of a contract...but in the Bizarro world that is professional sports...athletes do not feel they need to meet the terms and conditions of contracts that they sign.

Teams are just as guilty of giving in to the demand of these greedy, whining athletes.
This is an example where collusion among teams is warranted - they should all agree that once a contract is signed, the athlete MUST meet the needs of the contract until the contract ends. And NO team will renegotiate or try to sign a whining athlete who crys about a contarct not being fair. PERIOD.

Normally I would say you should honor your contract. But Hester is a big draw for the bears. If they just gave Urlacher more money while he was in a contract. Why not Hester?

When teams give up good field position because they are scared of one player. He is something special.

I will say one thing Hester would not ask for money if he played for like New England or Dallas. Teams that can actually score. The Bears offense sucks and he knows that...

Devin did'nt mind the contract when he was making nothing in college. In good faith the Bears will renegotiate, but you need to show up to work. Have some pride in yourself, for the love of the game.

The Bears now should hold out on Devin until his bank account is low, then negotiate with him.

well, hester shouldn't have signed that contract in the first place. oh, wait, i'm sure he was happy to get to play in the nfl and a year ago that was great money. have a few good games and the ego gets in the way. if he get's a big contract, watch him blow out a knee and go bye-bye.

go ahead bears, cave and give him the money and watch it all fall apart in front of your eyes.

hester is a whiner. play out your contract. keep your game up. then ask for more. period.

HOLD ON A MINUTE. This guy signed a contract. If he turned out to not be any good, would he have given the money back? That's why it's called a contract. If his agent wants to negotiate a new deal, that's great...and that's business, but the Bears don't owe him a thing. When an athlete signs a contract they are promising to play their best for the money they agree to. I would fine him and sit him on the bench. Then we'll see what he is worth at the end of his contract.

Look, all you idiots comparing yourself to Hester's salray need to get your head out of your asses. The fact is you are not pro football players, you are real world saps just like the rest of us. Pro football players get paid a lot of money, deal with that fact. Hester deserves more money and a new contract. The bears found the "time" to deal with Briggs, Urlacher and Harris but cant take care of Hester. Hell I would do the same thing if I was him.....got their attention didnt it?

Too many haters. People that complain about Hester's holdout only do so because they are miserable about their salaries. Instead of hating on Hester, I say congratulate the man and wish him the best. Other then Urlacher, Hester is the only Bear with gamebreaking ability...
