I go on base several times a week on business. Fine young folks there to be proud of! Always a pleasure to visit!

$800,000 for a visit, not bad! So much for supporting our troops!

A Dale Jr. Division flag? This is sick. You pay a "clebrity" $800,000 to lend his name and make a few visits and he thinks they're "You're going to see lots of cool things". I used to like him but this makes him sound like just another jaded celebrity who thinks a lot of himself.

Kudos to Jr. Haven't heard of anyone else doing anything like it. I'm sure it boosted morale for those recruits. They're probably scared shitless going into the unknown. I know I was, I was only 17 when I enlisted...

Thank you for servering our country!

Too bad Jr. will never understand what it means to sacrifice.

The reason you haven't heard of anyone else doing this, is because most people have morals.

Someone who is a mulit millionaire taking money to talk to service members is unbealivable.

I have ZERO respect for this MORON!

Jr. nation should be ashamed of this.

Um, I believe he takes the money to make commericals and lend his name to recruiting. Name one other celeb who lends his name to recruiting for free? Hell name one man who does anything for the military for free.

I almost threw up reading the Jr pitboard last night. Jr nation tearing up over his speech to the recruits, how wonderful of him to do this..blah...blah..blah

What a joke! I agree with Jim.

I understand celebrities get paid to do appearances. He should have refused this one. It's not like he needs the money! These men and women sacrifice their lives, their families, why can't Jr sacrifice a little bit of his time to support our troops??

My dad is retired NAVY, my late father in law retired ARMY, my husband is retired Air Force, my son and daughter in law are both ARMY reservists.

I have put Jr. down for many things, but this takes the cake.
This MORON has no clue what it means to be an American.
Jr. makes millions of dollars each year (which is fine, he makes money from his job and off his name) and he has the audacity to accept $800,000 from the US Navy?
Being a former military man, my stomach turned when i read this and I am so disgusted.
DALE EARNHARDT JR. IS A POS!!!
I hope that no one tries to defend this action.
It wa a sponsor appearance, Jim. All drivers get paid to do stuff like this. But what do you care? Even if he had done it for free you would still find something that he has done to bitch about. You never give him credit for anything. He has every idea what it means to be an American. He has a friend over in Iraq. Junior has sent him shirts, sunglasses, mp3 players, and countless other things.

You are the moron. I am glad you are at a loss for words. Maybe you will finally shut up and go away, taking your negative, hating energy with you. You want to see a POS? Try looking in the mirror.

the money was to sponsor the NAVY car, this was all announced when the Navy signed on as a sponsor, the JR Division was a part of the deal, and for your info it is the last year for the NAVY sponsorship with JR.

He didn't get paid 800,000 for that appearance. The money is to make several appearances as a recruiting effort. All branches have celebrities do this. So putting him down for this is stupid. I'm sure those recruits were thrilled. I know my son, who is in the National Guard , was thrilled when he got to meet him.

In my opinion, I think it is wrong of Junior to use his celebrity to encourage young people to enlist. Enlisting is one of the most personal decisions a person could make, and the "Dale Jr Division" sounds like what it is--a cheap, deceitful marketing ploy. I applaude the young people who are actually in that division (thank you) because they will face challenges that Junior certainly won't. This article, plus others I have read, tick me off because Junior comes across as phoney and pretentious.

Oh Please. EVERY driver has gotten paid for appearances, doesn't make them phony or pretentious. It's part of sponsorship obligations. You haters need to get a life.

I'm not a hater, I am a Junior fan. However, I think he's being a sellout. There's a war going on and he's cheapening the whole enlisting process by making these lear-jetted celebrity appearances , talking about "his division". He's not involved, he's PAID to show up. Meanwhile, some poor kid (literally)contemplates signing up"Oh, hey, I can be in the Dale Jr division!" while Dale jets off to drink beer and lord knows what back at the ranch. Give me a break. JMO
