I never said anything about women and voting like i said reading and comp. and just because your a nurse your not an expert in nursing so, quit bringing it up! your opinion on what i should and should not do means nothing to me. Lastly, stick with hospice, you are good at it. I have only had brief conversations with you and I am already ready to die.

Well, try to remember this: If you come on snarky and derisive, that's what you will get back. We are dealing with a lot of trolls. If you come on like another one, that's how you will be seen.

Many of the trolls start with "why aren't you doing more about the murders" NOT from a position of actual interest. They are trying to derail the discussion.

If you start by stating your purpose in the interests of information gathering, you will get as much help and good will as people can give you.

Just practice what you teach your sons, and you will be fine.

And another thing idiot, dog is NOT for dinner in 70% of the world. If you are ever buried under the rubble of a terrorist attack, become blind and need a seeing eye dog, need a search and rescue dog to help you find someone dear to you who is lost, need the protection of law enforcement K'9 units to detect drugs (probably in YOUR house) to make your neighborhood safe, I hope you are denied the help. But, idiot, you would be the first one to scream for the help, and want the state to pay for you to get that help as well. After the dog has rescued you, you would probably consider him food stamps and eat it.

The fact that we are discussing something that I have yet, and I stress yet to educate myself, says a lot for those of you who have made this your life's work. You are on a forum about Mike Vick's bankruptcy discussing animal cruelty rewards vs.human cruelty rewards, with me who, in all honesty knows very little about the in's and the out's of how to make a change politically, but I am willing to learn. However, I am not willing to have a (few) people belittle me for not knowing what they know. There is a lot of talk about communication skills and critical thinking skills that are to be used but, it doesnt take a rocket scientist to understand your points and my points are different but both true. Lastly, just because Vick is an idiot doesnt mean he cant change, and if he doesnt I'll change the name. But, in his defense he has lost more than just money he has lost his freedom, which is well deserved! I will give him a second chance as will a lot of other people. That does not mean he should not have to earn it, I agree, but he should get one. So, like it or not that is my stance.

If I missed your point, I apologize. Maybe you didn't say his sentence was unfair. But I gather that you think most of us should be spending our time working on problems that you consider more important. Some of us feel that those other problems you mentioned already have enough voices but animals have no voice and there is not enough laws to protect animals from abusers. Also, not everyone here is an animal activist. Some of us are simply voicing our opinion.

I'm with you, Lanie. I understand that point too. But, our laws are so complex and dependant on elected officials to enforce them and each state has its own set of rules. Historically, justice has not always been meted out fairly or sensibly. The problem is not that easy to fix.

VF, USA is right in his post. Understanding the dynamics of the funding can be very helpful. I write or call everyone. State rep, City council, prosecutors, judges. I send letters, email, voice mails. I call any organization I think would back me or is backing the case at the time and jump on their bandwagon. I blog on so many sites, if it wasn't for my computers history trail, I'd probably get lost. Change doesn't happen over night but it does happen. If you feel this fine is unfair write/call and ask questions. Remind them that as a registered voter/Tax paying citizen you want answers. Be polite but stand your ground and your questions will get answered. If you don't like the answers you keep making contacts. It's not an easy process but it can be effective. You can do all kinds of things to raise donations as well. Hell I know one animal rescue organization that brings about 90% of it financial support just from sending bulletins through myspace. If for one minute you think I (as many others I hope) will ever forgive Michael Vick, you are wasting your time as what he did to animals is not only disgusting, but unforgettable and certainly unforgiveable. I do not know what you plan to accomplish as I have seen many, many people come on this forum and talk about how many unsolved murder cases we still have all over the world and they complain that we are still on this forum 24/7 continuing to voice our opinions regarding MV. Therefore, if you are successful in your endeavors to try to change or lessen their anger for MV, then I applaud you. As for me, I see him as a sadistic beast who has pyschological problems that need to be addressed, as no one in their right mind could or would inflict the horrific torture on animals as he did and derive personal pleasure out of his brutality.

You're right Barb and it's impossible to fix if people do nothing at all. Once while living in another town in Ohio (when I was married) I noticed that allot of the dog owners just let their dogs roam. This town had its own dog warden but it was impossible for her to keep up. I used to help her out whenever I could as did some other concerned folks. It still wasn't enough. So I wrote the Editor of the local paper. Two days later there was my letter in the paper! It generated allot of support. I made people aware of the dangers of a roaming or chained dog. I pointed out that people who allow their dogs to roam were irresponsible etc etc. The local cops thanked me (along with busting my chops) The warden thanked me, neighbors called and expressed their appreciation. It really made a difference around there. One person, one letter. Now several years and 6 stray dog bites later,(4 on my forearm and two on my hand) the warden has a staff and when I pass through and talk with my old neighbors the problem is nothing like it was. Now I don't take full credit but I know I helped get the ball rolling just by writing one letter and losing about a pint of blood...lol It was worth it.

Lastly, just because Vick is an idiot doesnt mean he cant change, that's a mouthfull.

michael vick has done something wrong yes but the media and justice system used him as a scapegoat. it's funny how vick has to lose millions of dollars and possibily bankruptcy and may never be able to play football again while a martha stewart and any other famous person can get away with things and be allowed to continue to make money and live as just as nothing happened.
