I agree and I hope that you are able to unseat Mr. Freeman. YOu have my vote! I just hope it is not to late. Mr. Freeman collected the pay check nicely but it is time for a change. good luck sir and myself being a Kenmore Grad of 01 hope that you receive the support.

To me all that matters is you have Ideas I feel like Mr. Freeman does not, he just rubber stamps the Big Don. I think Don has done very well for Akron trying to improve it, but he has forgotten his roots and needs knocked off bombshell of a girl and do some work!

Regarding our youth and activities, I have made contact with Mary Ann King from CYO on basketball leagues for our kids. There was a good baasketball program when I was a kid and I was a part of it. I will return information on this as I get it. |

Mr. Bartek,
I am an Akron resident (not Kenmore). I find some of your ideas interesting and applaud some of them. I especially like your ideas for occupying the children of the area in CYO, sports, etc. My stumbling point is that this is seeming more like a political opportunity for you than a board for others. Your postings seem to stop only when you have reachd the space limits. I think its great you are willing to run for office and work for your community, but I don't think this is the place to run your campaign. Please continue to participate, but I, for one, would appreciate it if we could all stay more on topic. |

I apologize if I have offended you. Yes this original topic surrounded Adam Bueller and his problems with his stores getting robbed. However, being someone who is running to represent Ward 9, I feel responsible to respond to whatever I am asked or whatever points are raised. I also know that some will say things on a blog that you may not get in a face to face meeting. I understand your point and I will refrain from using this forum as an opportunity for politics. I also apreciate your kind words. Thank you. |

You did not offend me. I appreciate your enthusiasm. However, it appeared that you were the only one on this board for a while! LOL I also hope I didn't offend you. I can be ascerbic when called for, but your postings were from enthusiasm and not from the poison and hatred that often passes for dialog on these boards. Therefore, I tried to be as reasonable as possible. If you ever run for city-wide or further office, I will remember you kindly.

Akron is the worst city.

Worse than what? In what category? More detail, please. |

I use to work for the City of Akron Rec. Bureau part time. And When i heard the league was being disbanded I called and asked. I was told it would be back when Innes will be finished. The problem is we do not have a place for kids to go we need this it is vitale for growth. If they don't have a postive environment to hang out with they will continue to rob and do drugs. The need activities just not sports every kind that inriches them and stimulates the mind. Not drugs that give them this, so they rob to pay for there habit |

I really think your concerns speak to the Community Center plan I have. I addition to all of the thing I would house in that facility, I would look toward space for workshops and seminars. Also, things kids generaly like to do. I think a program with the Kenmore Cluster of schools to do lock-ins, possibly hold dances. Fundraising efforts involving our kids could be done out of this facility.....I am speaking about a 100,000 to 200,000 square foot facility dedicated to the community. In talks I have had with my contacts and sources in the Akron Public Schools, they all say the same thing as far as what kids like and what they are interested in. With adequate parking for this facility, fund raising carwashes and bake sales during good weather months are also possible. I got some info from Mary Ann King, however, she wants to meet in the summer with me regarding the basketball program. By the way, for some years now we have had an excellent wrestling program under Coach McAvinew and now Coach Thompson.....we could do a wrestling complex that would house training programs for our youth.... |

What can be done:
Pack heat. It's your Second Amendment right, and a good crime deterrent. |
