Over the last 3 years or so, I've been to about 10-12 Fever games with my girlfriend who has season tickets. The games can be fun to watch, but it has only reinforced the opinion of women's basketball I had before I ever saw a game in person. It is not great basketball to watch visually, and the best WNBA team in the league could not beat even a decent boys high school team. The NBA vs. WNBA aspect of the game is laughable, but I'm sure that's what the WNBA public wants.

It's a mans world. Cool. Then I wonder why men become so scared and intimidated when women get any kind of spotlight in certain fields. It's okay men, women do not want to take your place. We know that when you have to thump your chest and shout Who's the man -- you really aren't. Go WNBA!!

Well said. I've been a Fever season ticket holder for years - you couldn't pay me to sit through a Pacers "game"

Um. Stupid question, I know.

Why does the WNBA matter to people who hate it? If you think it sucks, if you think it's inferior, if you'd rather watch anything else, up to and including paint dry... why do you feel the need to tell us all that? Get on with your life, ignore the few articles and few games that are shown, do whatever else you want to. If you think it's so inferior, why are you bothering to pay attention to anything about it?

It's hardly surprising that someone who goes to a game with a preconception finds things to reinforce it. Perhaps if Michael had gone in with more of an open mind he would have seen the truth, that professional women are so far ahead of high school boys that comparison between the two is pointless.

... but the WNBA is a joke. Face the fact... Season tickets to see all three games of nothing but low scoring airball shots only costs $20.00!
The big questions for the big idiot are ----->

1. If you don't like the WNBA, why are you keeping track of the price of the tickets, game scores, number of games, blah, blah, blah?

2. Why do you find it necessary to tell people who do like the WNBA that they are wasting their time?

If you don't like the WNBA, just don't watch the WNBA !!! What a concept.

I personally don't watch the WNBA, or any baseball, or major league soccer, or the NBA, or American Idol, or America's top model.

There are people who do enjoy all of those types of entertainment.

Why pick on those people?

Instead, you can get a life.

Or, you can continue to be an idiot --- that's the safe bet.

"the best WNBA team in the league could not beat even a decent boys high school team"
Oh, is that true? Well ponder this... Why has the USA Olympic team, which is by the way comprised of WNBA players, won the Gold medal in Basketball every year! Hmmmmm....What did the Mens USA Olympic team , which is comprised of NBA players win in the last olympics? Oh yeah I believe that would have been Bronze. Please don't be a hater.

Being professional has nothing to do with crowd size. Perhaps you don't understand the meaning of the term.

Fans of BOTH leagues just need to
understand that the two games are different and each draw a different crowd - The NBA has followers that like the flashy-fast-paced-high- scoring-jump-from-the-foul-lin e and hang on the basket kind of game.. which is fine and has a HUGE following..WE or I on the other hand LOVE the basic below the basket, low scoring but just as competetive game that I can take my children to with out having to explain the negative player behavior on and off the court.

Well I guess equality can only be achieved in the video game world. In the reality based world it's completely different. As Tony K said on PTI, Sometimes we don't realize is that the NBA players are too good.
I don't need to watch the wnba because the players in the game are light years more exciting than the real ones. And the womens Olympic teams are playing other womens team. That's why they do so well. That group would need the mercy rule against the guys that were cut from the men's national team. OUCH!!!

Because they are women...playing other women. Duh. It is absolutely true...a team of WNBA all-stars would not, could not, will not ever beat a good boys high school team. If you like the women's game, good for you, but don't try to fool anybody into believing even the best women could beat anyone other than other women...or a boys junior high team...well, a mediocre boys junior high team...I mean at least 6 out of 10...unless they're home games for the junior high...then forget it.

The hatred I feel towards the WNBA isn't inspired by its inferiority. It was instead inspired by the NBA's attempts to shove an unproven product down our throats, telling us it's the best thing since Bird-Magic. How many times did we have to see that commercial of the half-court (or was it three-quarter-court) shot, set to the female-sung cover of The La's "There She Goes." How about matching NBA players up with WNBA players during the NBA All-Star Weekend? Now EA, probably with pressure from the NBA, has stuck WNBA players in a game named "NBA Street Homecourt." Any why should EA worry about boosting the percentage of female buyers of the NBA Street series from 10 percent to 20 percent? The same number of units get sold, and if more changes are made to further increase the percentage, it most certainly will since the males will stop buying it. Enough changes get made and women can make up 100 percent of 'NBA Street' buyers.

I've never heard anything from the NBA like it's the best thing since Bird-Magic. I think they are just marketing to try and keep it going, build up an audience and some fans. That's great for the women who want to play pro.

What do you care, anyway?

If you don't like it, don't watch it.

So you have to lie to bring in an audience...great. As I stated, if someone plugs in the dubya players and expects to see the same thing while watching the real players, they will be greatly disapointed. NBA players create and fly, dubya players are plodding and gravity challenged.
And as for calling someone an idiot, you live in Indy...nuff said.

Because the resources used to include these WNBA players (e.g. modeling, data entry) could have been better used. Who would I rather play as? Lisa Leslie, or vintage Dr. J? Tamara Catchings or Michael Jordan?
