Sunday Gold Goes to NBC - Olympics ratings fade but continue to...

Fast National ratings for Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008 The Summer Olympics passed the halfway point over the weekend, and NBC may be feeling a little tired.

Neilsen has not released fast national numbers for households to Zap2it or the futon critic (or, presumably, anyone else) since the first Friday in June. Daniel has written that they will return in the fall, probably on September 26th.

It's safe to assume that NBC won the night in an uncontested decision, though.

The answer is "not well." According to yesterday's USA TODAY, "Ghost Whisperer" scared up 4.9 million viewers (#23 for the week), "Numb3rs" could count up to 4.7 (tied for #29), but "Swingtown" rounded up only 3.2 million (tied for #59 for the week). Naturally, it trailed the Olympics (#7 for the week, the least watched night) and ABC's "20/20" (tied for #18 with 5.5 million), but was barely ahead of the Univision program ("La Rosa de Guadalupe" found an audience of three million), and failed to match USA's "Psych" (3.7 million viewers).

Enjoy "Swingtown" now, because it won't be returning.
