2 to execute than life in prison is because the same people who are opposed to capital punishment are in favor of unlimited appeals. It's like saying you can't cross the ocean because it's too expensive .(because the ONLY way to cross it is by building a giant bridge) Limit appeals to 2 appeals in 5 years or whichever comes 1st-out of time, out of luck. I look at the death penalty as being society's way of ridding itself of a cancer. You no longer get any more chances. I think the death penalty keeps the almost criminal from committing a crime, but the ones bent on crime will disregard it. It is the ultimate penalty for those who do not deserve or respect our forgiveness and leniency. |

1 Most appeals are for cases that should have been settled in circuit court or a lower court. With the preponderence of attorneys we have in our society, what used to be settled with a handshake now goes to court, and what used to be settled in circuit court now goes to appeal. And the money that it costs for this unnecessary, frivelous, over trial, litigation ends up in an attorney's pocket. |

Easy solution... start the regiment they use on the "Biggest Loser" then within 6 months he'll be trim enough to fry! No beig issue here just use your brain for a solution. After the long wait on Death Row, 6 months wouldn't be long at all. Problem solved!

1 3 Purple Hearts.... Not one flesh wound, not one scar... Not one pruple heart earned. Fake 'em and get out of the country is okay, it was a ****-war... to claim hero status is an insult to the real heroes. Guys did several tours there, some have their name on a wall in D.C. there's your heroes... Show me one scar for 3 hearts and I may buy the bullshit!! As far as the discussion goes It looks like trying to kill this guy with food didn't work i think maybe they should have used MRE's |

1 If I'm the teacher, then I'm telling you that capital punishment is bad and wrong. Tell me the good parts of it. I don't see any. |

1 English teaching and Capitol punishment - two different things... This dude kiied two young girls why did he do it and why should he live all his life. he should be killed just like he did them. I have only a big super rule and that is there can't be any mistakes in the trial. from finger prints and other proof without any mistakes at all. It costs money to keep him alive and that money could be better used for police and schools and other stuff for good people that don't kill. use that money to teach kids not to kill people |

1 STUDY: 22% of 2007 Felonies Caused by Illegals A new study from the Maricopa County Attorney is showing that illegal immigrants are responsible for a disproportionate amount of crime. Data used in the report wasn't gathered until the passage of Prop 100 two years-ago. The voter-approved law denies bail to those in the country illegally accused of a class 4 felony or above. The study concluded that nine percent of Arizona's population is in the country illegally, yet nearly 22 percent of felonies sentenced in Maricopa County are committed by illegal immigrants. Arizona taxpayers shell out $114 million annually to cover the cost of incarcerating them. |

If this had happened in Minnesota, he'd be out by now... enjoying a BIG MAC. |

An eye for an eye - it sounds like. How about turn the other cheek? I know what you mean about trying get everything right in the trial - however we'll never how many times we got it wrong. The Innocence Project info: As of August 29, 2008, 220 defendants previously convicted of serious crimes in the United States had been exonerated by DNA testing. Almost all of these convictions involved some form of sexual assault and approximately 25% involved murder.[3] |

1 To your point, we will never know how many times we got it right. We have in imperfect system. We have innocent people punished and guilty people set free. I believe that the souls of the (1) innocent (born and unborn) go to heaven. (2) guilty go the other direction. The innocents will always get their reward after death. The guilty will always get what they deserve after death. I am kind of thinking that the next world we go to is infinitely better than this one. Rhetorically speaking, whom is the better off: (1) The innocent that was executed and goes to heaven. (2) The guilty who got off and has to spend the rest of his natural life on earth and the rest of his afterlife in hell. If there is no justice in this life, I am hoping the debits and credits get adjusted in the afterlife (whether up or down). |
