We need to make this breed extinct. How many defenseless children must die before this happens? Ya, ya, I know, it's how they are raised. The problem is that this breed seems to be more easily "trained" to be violent.

na its not the breed...riiiiighhhhht

|
I second:
Exterminate the breed |
|

Did Michael Vick own this dog?*sarcasm*

Maybe a new criteria for CPS agencies is whether a home has pitts and whether the owners have trained them properly.

|
Kick the dog owner! |
|
Even the best "trained" animals attack....especially those of high risk breeds. Still you have a good point....better than nothing! Maybe parents need to be more careful where their children are playing or dog owners need to lock up the beasts when children are present! :( |

Hey my favorite poster!!! Still lovin' you Ace! kick the dog! |

Outlaw, exterminate the Pit Bull breed, they are not a safe
reliable breed. For the last few years they've killed more innocent children than one could imagine and yet there has been no action taken against eliminating this breed. OUTLAW THIS BREED AND SAVE A CHILD!! On the other hand if only one person were killed with a legally owned permitted hand gun, everyone would be up in arms demanding all gun permits be revoked and the owner ship of hand guns illegal. |

Why would CPS have placed a child into a home with all those pitbulls? The aunt and uncle should not have been allowed to have this child. A home with pitbulls is not a suitable home for young children, maybe it's time to hold the social workers accountable for this kind of negligence.

I agree with Gene Maple Grove. How many kids have to die before this breed is done away with? They are unpredictable monsters. I realize this is a macho thing, but what about the kids? And by the way, this 5 year old didn't have a chance in hell - His parents apparently didn't take care of him and the relatives he was placed with are irresponsible.

They will never learn, will they...But it is macho to own one...right esse'.

You have all got to be kidding me!!!! Ban the breed? Its really funny that you consider the pit bull to be such a dangerous dog when there are more attacks on record by Retrievers than pit bulls. These attacks have nothing to do with the breed itself at all. it is all in the owner and how they are raised. A properly socialized dog should never ever be aggressive towards people.
BAN THE DEED, NOT THE BREED. |

Yeah there have been numerous deaths by retrievers, hasn't there. We're not talking about bites...we're talking about vicious attacks. Pit Bulls don't belong in society. Im sure there are a few pit bulls that wouldn't hurt a fly but the majority of them are vicious potential killers.

Are you kidding? Where do you get that crock of bull? I'll be back later with some stats....show me yours please |
|
Too bad his dogs didn't eat him! |

There's a big difference in a bite and a mauling to death. Here are some facts- http://www.dogbitelaw.com/PAGES/statistics.ht... The breeds most likely to kill: In recent years, the dogs responsible for the bulk of the homicides are pit bulls and Rottweilers: "Studies indicate that pit bull-type dogs were involved in approximately a third of human DBRF (i.e., dog bite related fatalities) reported during the 12-year period from 1981 through1992, and Rottweilers were responsible for about half of human DBRF reported during the 4 years from 1993 through 1996....[T]he data indicate that Rottweilers and pit bull-type dogs accounted for 67% of human DBRF in the United States between 1997 and 1998. It is extremely unlikely that they accounted for anywhere near 60% of dogs in the United States during that same period and, thus, there appears to be a breed-specific problem with fatalities." (Sacks JJ, Sinclair L, Gilchrist J, Golab GC, Lockwood R. Breeds of dogs involved in fatal human attacks in the United States between 1979 and 1998. JAVMA 2000;217:836-840.) |

Take a look at this link. http://www.nopitbullbans.com/...
The biggest problem is that the "pit bull" in itself is not even a breed of dog. But another reason why this dog has what the CDC considers to be the larger portion of the dog bite stats is because it is confused with other breeds. There are 25 breeds of dogs that are commonly mistaken for a pit bull which only serves to increase the stats against them. I find it funny that everyone on the board is screaming to ban this breed. But then what about the sheppards, Akitas and other breeds that will take the place of the pit bull for the thugs of the world? |
