I believe too much in our legal system. Who are we to take crime in our own hands. Im sure he will get what due. I see you are no better than the criminal reported in this story. How about adding underage possesion of a firearm to the list?? It sure would be nice if our esteemed DA used the laws to their fullest extent!

The day of this incident, we were doing a clean sweep of the 700 block of W Princess and the 700 block of W Poplar. We were only feet away from this incident. Thank goodness for shot spotter and the police being in that area. Thank God no one was hurt. THIS MAKES ME LEARY OF THAT AREA! I do thank all the neighbors that cared enough to come out and help. Now I see what they must endeavor in that area. I live close but am glad I don't live on W Princess Street! It's a zoo there!

I am glad "shoot them on the spot" wasn't the cops that broke up the Dallastown homecoming party. We would have a lot of dead teenagers that broke the law. And just when you say, but they were only drinking. Too bad most of them would have probably been driving (had the cops not busted them) and would deadly weapons themselves on the way home.

I can't believe how stupid people are that post on this site. And yes, i'll assume they are bunch of white people that make these ridiculous statements. And as a fellow white person it embarasses me.

At 17 I think he old enough to have his name printed in the newspaper and to be charged as an adult. And he can be glad it wasn't my house because I would have shot him. And yes, Out wit bs, I have been crime free my entire life and I'm in my early 60s.

Why do you bleeding hearts always holler and call us BIGOTS! or RACISTS! when we knock the criminal. If getting irate because someone shot into a house 4 times is BIGOTRY than what label do you think we should attach to the shooter?

Since we bigots are so stupid and assume so much, please tell me---If someone shot into YOUR HOME 3 times would you still consider us "stupid bigots" if we made the same remarks or would you be reaming out the shooter?

Because I'm a bigot and stupid and I assume everything, than I also assume the victims owed drug money and yes, are illegals and if so, should be deported too.

That's what happened in 1969 and people are still whining about and the crimes gotten worse.

We need to do a better job in 2008. Crime has gotten worse because the judicial system is a joke. The 3 strike law needs to apply to any 3 crimes a person does. I don't care if you shoot at someone, then deal dope and finish up buy swiping some bubble gum...3 strikes...you're out !!!

what if you get three speeding tickets...send you off to the state pen...being crime free just means you haven't been caught...we all take liberty with the law...traveling 5-10 miles over the speed limit...no biggie...roll through a stop sign...neglect to use our turn signal...we are all one slight mistake from possibly killing someone...i guess you are just lucky...

and i am not a bleeding heart...i just don't assume or rush to judgement...i wait until i see all the facts before i jump on a message board and hang someone in the town square or off their head. personally i would call myself bi-partisan...i see thing from both sides of the aisle...

for example, i never owned or even held a gun...but i believe in the right to bare arms...i have just chose to buy my foods in a grocery store and live in places where i have never needed to protect myself with deadly force...

most people make judgements from their narrow view on life...i grew up in lilly white suburbia, but teach in the inner city...i never had trouble leading urban children...and i never had to shoot at them, grab them, hang them...just talk to them...that is what most narrow minded suburban and country folks don't get...because you had people that talked to you...how many of you spent all 24 hours of a day locked in your room, except meal time, while your parents sold drugs...your father was unable to walk because of his drug dealing, and your mom is a prostitute...but i guess it's the kid's fault...he made bad choices, because he had such great role models of how to make solid informed decisions...

like a said, i have experienced lives in both places...i have been in all types of neighborhoods...and been greeted kindly on the 600 block of princess street and asked to enter homes with open arms...when your experience of princess, poplar or west streets is the newspaper or tv...you just don't know enough to make an informed judgement...that's my opinion...and because i am american citizen i have the right to express that opinion...

bottom line is we are no less segregated then we were 60 years ago...we are just seperated by economic status rather than race...

I think these kind of examples/discussions only serve to bring up emotions. The law is about FACTS not feelings. Do X and pay the penalty Y. The "mitigating circumstances" originally meant exactly that, circumstances immediately prior to the act NOT that your life stinks / mom's a prostitute / dads a criminal / no role models, etc, etc.
Do the crime, pay the time. It's simple and direct, NO EXCUSES just RESPONSIBILITY FOR ACTIONS.
And as to "Like you've never broken the law", that is also a diversion. This is about the criminal, not me, not you, and not anyone else.

Another point. If they don't think it's wrong or know it's wrong, then why run away? They, like anyone else, and I am referring to the criminal element, know the difference between right and wrong. They just choose the side they think can garner the highest profit from the least amount of effort.

Excellent explanation. RESPONSIBILITY is the key word. I too was brought up in a lily white community. We also did some horrendous crimes, like one Halloween, broke a storm door with an apple. We were caught, punished, and scared the **** out of us. That was 70 years ago and was never arrested since then. Did give a teenager (girl) the double finger the other day for tailgating me. Was traveling 16 mph in a 55 mph zone. Did I do wrong?
Being facetious, but it still remains all about RESPONSIBIILITY.

Ok...let me be a little more clearer...3 strikes for the nappy heads ...no matter what. In fact, 3 is more than enough !!! The lomger we sit around and wait for 3 felonies, he more problems are caused. You can't be in a traffic ccident with them because they have no insurance. You can't live in the same neighborhood because it's either public housing or rodent infested and they use our tax payng dollars and make every excuse why they can't work. Lazy bastards...yes 3 speeding tickets and hang them !!! I'm so tired of everyone making excuses for these low life pieces of sh!t. They rob, steal and beat innocent people (elderly, kids, men and women) and yet they have more rights than whites. The whites are the one's who replenish their food stamp fund. Get a clue people. Hang, I agree!! My daughter was just jumped, beat & robbed on Sunday morning on Newton Ave. She is 26, 4'8" tall & weighs no more then 99 lbs, came up behind & sucker punched her.....NO He beat her, these idiots have NO CLUE til it effects their families.
I have lived in York darn near 30 years, &I HAVE TO TELL YOU I AM LOOKING AS OF NOW TO GET THE HELL OUT!
