I have known Norm for several years and I can call him a friend. I have seen alot of the posts about this and will say first off what he done was wrong, but let me also say this. Norm is no snob, he is a cut up and is friendly, he is all business at work and trust me he does a great job. There have been some bad cases come up in the courts and he is always on top of whats going on and makes sure everyone leaves safe and are not harmed after the case is over. Norm is also the type of man that would give you the shirt off his back if you asked him, now trying to take it is a different story but I think alot of us are like that. Yeah he walks around the court house and checks every courtroom seeing that everything is ok. It's easy to sit back and pass judgement on anyone but he is a good man no matter what your feelings on this matter are, and that should count for something.

Tiny, It does count for something. It counts for his general personality. BUT it doesn't count for what he did that night. He was drunk, operating a vehicle, and carrying loaded firearms. Very poor judgment from someone who should absolutely know better. He placed countless lives at risk, including his own. His privilidge to drive and his right to carry a firearm should and will be revoked, but that is a small part of what he deserves and while I'm glad he was caught before someone was hurt or killed, I am also saddened by his poor judgement and reckless disregard for everyone's safety to include everyone on the road, himself, and the police officers that encountered him that night. They were just as much at risk, if not more, than everyone else. Let justice be done.

Hell, give him another Drink. Working around all those Hippocrates would drive anyone to DRINK. Reading about all these corrupt people makes Me want to Drink, or Take DRUGS. Really, do you think the Police could spare a little Marijuana they keep For their own during all these BUSTS. Got yo keep an eye on that Evidence.

Typical people.....you are the first to scorn and are quick to forget your own faults and mistakes. Regardless some are worse than others, as in this case. Everyone of you have posted whatever you would like to say about this man, in haste at that, try and remember he gave 20 years of his life to serve the country that gives you that right. Given a contrary situation, say he was rewarded for something, there possibly would only be about 1/10 of the congratulations comments versus the negative ones there are now, IF THAT...find something better to do with your time, maybe work on yourself a little bit. The public just loves controversy, you dont actually care, you just want a reason to be mad and involved.

One Question for BTP. Have you ever done anything wrong since you have been old enough to know better? You are really down on this man.

Loaded firearms?! I even being opposed to gun control myself finds a little hypocrisy in that being a judgement against him. Due in part by 1. this man has been to more places in the world than most can even imagine times 10(being in the Navy for 20 yrs AND 13 years of dealing with all the crazies in METRO),thus he has seen a lot more than you can even imagine times ten, making him more probable to PERSONALLY carry a firearm for his own benefit., 2. He legally by the state of TN has the authority and right to carry one at any given time,( and more than likely has been able to do so since it was legal) so, technically if you are going to be upset, be upset with the gun control laws of the state of TN not him. The loaded firearms charge was just to make this look worse and more appealing to the public and anyone with any type of decent IQ can see that.

Not A Cop,
To answer your question, yes I make mistakes. I own up to them and take what I deserve. DUI is not a mistake! It's a choice. It's a stupid choice that places the offender and EVERYONE else on the road in mortal danger. That's not a mistake. It's a choice with high risk. I've never made the "mistake" of DUI because I didn't make that choice.
Sarah,
Obviously you know the man and that's fine. Your personal opinion of him does not matter in the eyes of the law. I am not "down" on him. I'm down on what he did. He drove while VERY intoxicated (I have since spoken with someone who was there. And carrying a loaded firearm, regardless of who you are, while intoxicated is ILLEGAL. It doesn't matter where he has been in his life or what he has experienced in those places. I am also almost a 20 year veteran myself. I have seen plenty, but it doesn't give me an excuse to break the law.
I understand your desire to protect him and I'm certain he appreciates it, but it has no place in the company of fact.
He's guilty. He pays the price. He moves on.
