are you kiffin me? Pete Carroll's (former) lap dog? Hamilton should get his resume together yesterday. Nevermind, no one will hire him after this fiasco. Urban must be saying an additional "thank you prayer" this year. And Bobby Johnson is probabaly thinking he can get used to having the best college football team in Tennessee now that Phil isn't around to beat his teams anymore. Welcome to the real world of "competitive college football" Coach Kiffin. This ain't the pac-10. Also...congrats Fla on your upcoming SEC and National Championships.

The more I hear about this guy, the more I like him. However, he as unfinished business in the NFL and at some point in his life, he will want to close that loop. That's ok. We need someone who is willing to work/adapt to win and Lane may just be the guy!

His background in football and his coaching ability will produce an instant winner at Tn. Bringing his dad and Coach Reeves from S.C. will help in landing top recruits. He is the best coach that is available from all sources that know anything about football. That being said "Go Vols".

I think that UT should have tried to hire the former coach of the Pittsburg Steelers instead of Kiffin as the next coach of UT. UT with Kiffin as coach will not get any quality football recruits to come to UT to play. Under Kiffin it will be along time before we see any championships or winning seasons.Just because he was a offensive cordinator at USC doesn't make hime a head coach in the SEC. But I do wish hime good luck....

If you don't think we will get quality recruits you're sick in your head. Lane is a proven recruiter and will surround himself with great coaches and recruiters

He will have almost the same pressure in the SEC as he did with my Raiders. he is a joke. should have gone for a more proven coach. good luck in surviving this Vols. i hope you do im a fan of Tenn.

I think Kiffin will do well at the College level. I think he was in a little over his head having to deal with Al Davis. I still think if Davis hadn't f*cked with him so much, then he would've been a decent coach. When that kind of drama is going on between a coach and an owner/GM, it makes the job a lot harder than it actually is. YOU SHOULD NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT SOMEBODY ABOVE YOU NO MATTER WHAT JOB YOU HAVE.

As a Raider fan and a UT Vol fan, I can say this will probably be a short-lived experiment. Kiffin forced Al Davis to fire him, so he could be available to land a job like the Vol job. Now he won't be able to blame anyone else for his failures but himself, and if he tries to play the blame game with the AD like he did with Davis, he'll be unemployed again.

Davis did come out and say he messed up in the off season. signing kiffin, signing players that were over rated. he has made mistakes but he is still one of the greatest owners ever. look what he has brought to oakland. look what other team have had. i really think kiffin ran himself out for the money and cuz he knew the vols job was coming up. he may do ok there but i think he made his trip in oakland bad. not davis. also how do we as fans know what goes on in that front office. seems like cable has his way with alot of the changes around there. our team looks a 100 times better with kiffin gone. i dont believe people when they say al davis calls the plays. that just sounds too stupid.

It's a shame Fulmer was a great coach and to bring us a coach with no sec tradition a non winning coach in the NFL sorry 5-15 is not a great record Fullmer should of never been pushed out 1 bad year does not make a x-scuse for the way the way the done Fullmer I hope fullmer still coaches in the sec and comes back to beat the vols and shows them why they should of never let him go

I am guessing if you had the mental fortitude to coach a college football team you wouldn't think twice about accepting that money. You also have to keep in mind the amount of jobs Kiffin could potentially keep or create....if he does well it could boost the economy in the area. more tickets sold= more people coming in from out of town which allows hotels, restaurants, gas stations, repair stations and souvenir shops etc... to make more money allowing the economy to flourish a little. If he does what they think he can do the area will make that money back easily. priorities wrote: this new guy is gonna get 2 million a year to coach football........nashville/davi dson county school teachers may be asked to take a 2% pay cut.....hmmmmm.......sports or education?

I think Kiffin will do a very good job at Tennessee. He has a superb eye for talent and has a way of getting great recruits to come to his school. He was the head recruiter at USC that got Keith Rivers, Mike Williams, Patrick Turner, Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart and Lendale White to ALL come to USC.
The guy has an eye for talent. That much is indisputable.
