English First Gets Its Special Election In January

Our country is bending over back to make sure they ALL get fair treatment. Where does this leave American people who work hard and pays taxs everyday? we are loosing not only more tax money, but we are loosing more of our rights. To not get a job bacause we don't speak spanish. what's next??

Apparently you're not an American because you are refferring to Americans as lazy and not including yourself. Don't classify all Americans as lazy, I've worked with plenty of Hispanics that would be lazy, call out and one of the worst things, not leave their female coworkers alone. I totally agree. I should've said where WILL it end. I don't live in Davidson County but if I did, I'd vote "Yes" for English Only. Yeah, let the folks that don't speak it pay for their own translators.

Well I think it looks like discrimination aginst mexicans mostly because thats who its aimed at. I mean you dont get "press 2 for chineese" on an automated phone system. The reason when Chineese people immigrate here they learn English. For some reason shear numbers is my guess. We have started to try to accomidate spanish speaking people.

And by the way Araceli feel free to leave if you dont like this country full of lazy Americans. I dont mean that rude but here you are in America downing Americans. If I were to go to another country and try that what would happen to me?

well i am america i just really consider my self mexican and proud of it and you do know some americans are lazy .... they get mad because we get better jobs than them when they dont even look for a job if they get laid off all they really want to do is go for unemployment and live out of that .....

yes this country is where is at because of the great people that there is here (some of them ) well but let me tell you when do you see an american in the field getting tomatoes and lettuce how about picking strawberry's and all the fruits and vegetables no you will never see one why because that is hard work and none of your people want to do and im american but not proud of it

I know there are lazy people of all races even mexican,That being said if you are not happy here why do you stay?

Part of what araceli says is true. Now days young boys wouldn't be caught dead in a hay field or dairy farm, or any kind of farm work. It is hard work, and most of our young people are to lazy to do this kind of hard work. Parents give to much to the kids and never expect them to work. Now this being said, I'm sick of having our rights taken away for fear of hurting others rights. If you come to our country then YOU learn our English. We do not owe any on. WE give to much aid to foreign countries now. Our country is in debt. STOP wasting our money on other langages or other countries. Take care of USA first. If people are so unhappy then go to Iraq, or back to mexico.

Yall ought to read the Mexican Laws concerning immigrants to THEIR country! WE need laws like they have!

I agree most younger people are lazy these days,but not all of them my daughter has got one child and another on the way.She still gets up everyday and goes to work.So not all americans are lazy.My husband has been work since he was 15 years old for the last 21 years he has been working 60 hrs a week.before I got hurt at work I worked 40 hrs a week and because I busted my butt working hard from the first day I got there,it wasexpected of me to keep doing so while the mexicans came in and did not do there best because they new they could yell descrimination if anyone said anything to them.Now alot of latinos not just mexicans do work hard but alot of them once they get there foot in the door become lazy too.because they have descrimination laws on there side.Now how do you think the veggies and fruits use to get picked before your mexican people got here do you think they just fell off and jumped into the baskets?I don't think so I can remember when I was young I would help my grandparent and parents plant there gardens and havest them and i'm sure all the older generations did.So before you say all americans are lazy stop and think how did this coutry become such a beutiful country before the immigrants got her.
