Jan Gray, unconstitutional give me a break don't break the law and you don't have to worry.Right to privacy,GIVE ME A BREAK your on the open road if you want privacy, stay at home with your door locked. I can't believe how some people are so stupid.
Obey the LAW and you don't have to worry. |

I agree with Bill. Do the right thing and obey the law. When you try to beat the light, another person with the same thought will try to do the same. You know what happens then? Accident. Then who's to blame then? I know sometimes a person may be in a hurry, but really how many of us don't have that extra minute or so to stop like we are suppost to?

#1 those devices are ILLEGAL in and of themselves, put one on your car and its a 100% lead pipe cinch you will get a ticket from the 1st cop that sees it
#2 they dont work (ever watch Mythbusters?) they can STILL read your plate and once they see that on it you can be sure you will get a double ticket in the mail #3 Do red light cameras violate motorists' privacy? No. Driving is a regulated activity on public roads. By obtaining a license, a motorist agrees to abide by certain rules, such as to obey traffic signals. Neither the law nor common sense suggests drivers should not be observed on the road or have their violations documented. Red light camera systems can be designed to photograph only a vehicle's rear license plate, not vehicle occupants, depending on local law. Only vehicles driven by motorists who violate the law are photographed. in short if you dont want your picture taken? TURN IN YOUR LICENSE |

How about you stop at red lights then no one will NEED to look at your license plate? Privacy violation solved! How easy was that?

My x-wife (who never had my anme taken off her car registration) recently ran one of those. She got the ticket in the mail (because she lives in the house we both once occupied), and tossed it because it was for me and not her (since I am listed first on her registration).
I drive through Gallatin, get pulled over, and guess what...I have anoutstanding citation...of course, I tell the cop I havent' been to Gallatin in years...he (of course) doesnt' believe me. Now, would someone like to give me some advise? There is a reason A REAL PERSON needs to see this. I am COMPLETELY of the opinion that "if you get caught, you shouldn't have been doing it to begin with." Don't get me wrong...BUT, when you start methods of trying to "catch" people that leave grey areas (such as mine) you need to rethink. |

From the story "As more cities install red-light cameras, some motorists are trying to find a way to beat them. "
Now I have the sure fire way to beat the camera. For $50 I will send you a book on how to beat the red light cameras, speeding tickets, parking tickets, etc.. The Title of the book is "Tennessee Driver Handbook" |

Welcome to the NANNY NAZI STATE,back in the 80s they did away with entrapment laws.....looks like their back, these folks that support the cameras will probably rat out their own parents or friends for breaking the stupid smoking ban.......how low our society has become..what constitution.

I bet is someone lost someone they cared about due to a motorist running a red light, they would think different about these cameras.... If they prevent accidents, more power to them, PUT THEM EVERYWHERE!

Jan Gray absolutley plans on breaking the law, or she wouldn't use a phantom plate. Oh yeah, which is breaking the law anyway. She's full of crap. If you don't want a ticket, how about you stop at red lights? It's as simple as that. Jan-I hope to be the first to pull you over, and anyone else who tries to pull that nonsense. Privacy rights my butt. I agree with Bill Edwards, you want privacy, then stay out of public, moron. Some folks will do anything to get their face on TV.

.....I dont care for more intrusion into peoples lives, the cameras arent there to do anyhting but make the city money and harass people....I got a harley too, been run down a few times by people with a handicapp plate, you wanna do something constructive start there, those people cant drive. Especially since the laws original intent was only for people confined to a wheelchair so they could get out close to a stores front door.....nobody had a problem with that, look what it grew to be......... |

confederate1978 lets say the only reason the red light cameras is there for revenues. Consider the amount of resources it takes to work a traffic accident, plus the fact the time working an accident takes an officer out of service more officers have to be employed to keep patrol coverage up. Expenses for PD is going up each year due to the increase in traffic crashes.
Now also consider the ones who made this possible, the red light runners, and without them the possibility of increasing revenues would not even exist. If it was not for the amount of people who refused to follow the rules of the road then this camera would not be an asset. Now Murfreesboro is the only city I have seen to address this problem publicly. For the past few years MPD has put out articles on the red light problem and increased enforcement. MPD has given drivers plenty of opportunities to correct the problems themselves, and the drivers refused to heed to MPD's warnings. So everytime you see a red light runner, remember they are the reason the camers exist. |

For all of the MARXIST FASCISTS SHEEPLE who replied "Do the right thing and obey the law" or to that effect..........What part of the above do you NOT UNDERSTAND?????????
In all criminal prosecutions, the ACCUSED shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an IMPARTIAL jury of the State and district where in the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; TO BE CONFRONTED WITH THE WITNESSES AGAINST HIM;to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defense. "Big Brother in the form of an increasingly powerful government and in an increasingly powerful private sector will pile the records high with reasons why privacy should give way to national security, to law and order, to efficiency of operation, to scientific advancement and the like." Justice William O. Douglas Source: Points of Rebellion, 1969 And as far as the rest of the sidewalk legal scholars are concerned.......... "The right to defy an unconstitutional statute is basic in our scheme. Even when an ordinance requires a permit to make a speech, to deliver a sermon, to picket, to parade, or to assemble, it need not be honored when it's invalid on its face." Justice Potter Stewart 1915-1985), U. S. Supreme Court Justice Source: Walker v. Birmingham, 1967 If any of you don't like, want, value, or appreciate the unalienable rights and liberties that our creator has endowed us with........please pack your bags and move to Russia, China, the Middle East, or similar areas. I for one and speaking for myself choose to live in FREEDOM as our founding fathers passed it to us. Get with the program! |

Since you are not charged with a crime in criminal court that is a moot point, it is civil law.
Anyway the camera is not the accuser, it just collets evidence. The police is still the accuser and you can still face them in court. A radar gun is also a device you cannot face in court, only the officer who viewed it. Obey the law you it is not even a problem |

PS I always love hearing people talk about their rights when they break the law.

condferate, your statement about handicapp can't drive is unfair. I know some may not be able to drive very good, but not all. I do agree that this is one law that is totally abused. I never see a cop checking people when they come walking out of a store just fine. I know several people who use someone else tag. They should check, and then give them a $500 fine when the tag isn't their. If someone runs a light and hits your car, or you, or your kid crossing the street, I think most people would want to see the camera then. Don't run the light and you won't have to worry about the camera!!!

i suppose that the red light cameras offer police officers more time to go by the donut shop instead of actually doing something productive like stopping rape and drug crimes.

1 Well said! You make my point for me. Spoken like a true Marxist, sheeple, coolaid drinker. Anything Big Brothers says is aye OK right? First off, it is NOT CIVIL......try an experiment and run a red light, get a ticket and throw it away. Wait and see how "Civil" the charges and mess is. Secondly, the camera IS the accuser. If no human being was there to personally witness, the offense, the accuser is the camera. A camera cannot be cross examined. A **** donut eater who administatively handles the camera ticket has NO idea of what the offenses are until they view the film. The government further violates 5th amendment rights by forcing the owner of the vehicle to say who was driving thus forcing self incrimination. Comrad........I spent half of my adult life in the military to support and defend the United States Constutition against ALL enemies foreign AND DOMESTIC, sure does seem like lately the Domestic Enemies are FAR worse than the so called terrorist have ever been. Flip flopping, talk out of both sides or your mouth typical American. It is just fine and dandy and a personal right to murder new born and unborn children to the tune of over 1.5 million EVERY SINGLE YEAR! But a God given spelled out plain in FRONT OF YOUR FACE Constitutional Amendment mean NOTHING. With AmeriKans like you.........God help us! We damn sure don't need anymore enemies. |
