The fact of the matter is that the real problem is the expectations and limitations of dispatch and the police. The lady in this incident is obviously a ghetto-ite who probably calls the police hourly to manage her life problems she has created for herself. Even if your house catches on fire, you can at least try to leave the burning inferno and not wait for a fireman to put it out before your a crispy critter. This lady and I call her lady out of pure speculation needs to grow up and stop wasting valuable time of the police and dispatch. And needs to get off welfare and join the productive side of society. I agree with the call taker in saying I don't give a s##t about her because like the rest of the bottom-feeders of society they take and take and never give. Who needs em? I for one respect the men and women who put their lives on the line daily for this trash. And what do they get in return? Losing their jobs? Civil suits? And from whom? The same bottom-feeders.

My gosh, the tape speaks for itself, along with the trainee being fired, it appears the supervisor should be let go also or major suspension. I say the caller in this case has a major law suit against the dept. I have 30 yrs experience in communications, and this is just unreal that any center would have an employee on there staff that acted like that. I used to work in a center in Southern California where there are employees worst then this person. I've witnessed many delays in calls being dispatched or improperly handled. Yet, I watched as certain supervisors covered up for the dispatcher because they are close friends. AMAZING what happens behind the dispatch door.

I am absolutely shocked and horrified that this could happen. A person's life was in danger and they divert the police officer en route to her house to instead attend to a traffic violation and the operator makes an insensitive comment like that. I hope they clean things up in the department and soon.

On the other hand, while the operator's use of profanity was out of line,so was the woman's. I also agree that if she knew this person was violent, she should have taken steps to defend herself. 911 operators are under a great deal of pressure. I'm not excusing the operator's actions but the woman should have that her ex-boyfriend would return and could have prevented this incident, knowing full well his violent nature. While his using the "S" word was unacceptable, her use of the "F" word was no better. I feel sorry for the woman but looking at the other side of the same coin,911 operators are under much stress dealing with life and death situations daily. And for the record,I think the 911 operator should be fired and I am glad he was. I am troubled though by the media trying to manipulate the news instead of report it.

I worked for the Nashville Metro 911 services for 2 years, when I left due to family issues they said when I was ready to come back I always had a place, but when I was able to come back, they told me I wasn't eligible for rehire but no one cared to check into why and I called all the human resources and they all said I was. They don't care about their employees or the callers. Very few like myself actually cared but they didn't want me back

Like people have stated Serpas is too worried about giving tickets and pulling people over than he is at taking care of actual callers in trouble. It doesn't matter if the caller or the dispatcher was white or black. What matters is that the ex could have killed that lady and police would have never known until they showed up to make a report and then realized they had to also call the ME. Nashville 911 got messed up when Roxanne Brown and Serpas took over. There are alot of stresses at the job and the phones keep recording a couple of seconds after the call hangs up just in case. The dispatcher probably does care but once the call is taken and the dispatcher alerts the Sgt of the pending call, then its up to the officers to take the call, the dispatcher is just someone to take the calls and dispatch. The officers should have been watching their computers for updates on the call and what was going on. The officers are just as much responsible for that lady not being protected like she should have been.

That's disgusting, I hope they fired that worthless piece of dung and anybody else that acts like him there(or agrees with what he did)too! There must be some law by which he can be arrested, he deserves a worse punishment than just being fired. I hope she sues, she has every right, and she should get a pretty penny! Sick Sick Sick, I just can't believe it! Man, what a low life ****, I hope his family is proud of him. Disgusting, just disgusting. He should be neutered so he can't spawn any more little heartless ****(if it isn't too late already)

Nicole wrote: The dispatcher gave the officer this call. It was sitting in the pending calls. Maybe Phil should look at why the officer didn't go to the call, after being told that the lady was calling back. Maybe look at the sgt for not paying attention to the officers obvious neglect. I mean it is obvious to me who is to blame. Plus, how can the officers be expected to keep up with the high call volume when they have a quota to meet. And Phil, if your reading this, maybe you should pull some officer write ups here recently and you'll see officers actually getting in trouble & reprimanded for not meeting quotas. And Serpas says he is helping this city. He ran his last city into the ground, now he's trying to do the same here. And the citizens of Nashville are letting it happen. Kudos True, serpas ran both New Orleans and Olympia into the ground and turned them both into hellholes. He has been doing the same to this hellhole

If the woman's life was in danger, why is she alive now? I believe if the ex boyfriend meant to hurt or kill her, he had plenty of time to do it. It seems as if she just wanted him locked up because he did not have a job and could not give her money anymore.

The call takers comment was out of line but, given the amount of crap he had to take from this woman, I can understand how he must have felt. I used to work in the hospitality industry as a desk clerk at a hotel. Aperson gets tired of being crapped on by selfish people who expect everything instantly given to them, their way. I know people treated me badly because of my gender (male) and my race (white). You all might be surprised by the amount of crap men receive everyday. A person can only take so much before they retaliate and speak their mind
