If her mother and father seen the dress with her in it before she left for the prom. I see no reason that the teachers and school board should get involved. That's the problem today with the school board wants to run everyones life. I'm sure the parents of this girl would not let her go out if she was properly dressed. Some old bitty at the prom was jealous that the girl looked better than her in that gown. If the gown was custom made for this girl the mother had to see it and approve it before paying for it. The school board should be sued for ruining the girls evening out and reimburse the girl for all of expense she laid out for the prom and make a public apology for making the girl leave the prom.

Ummm I willing to guess there is no Daddy around and the Mom was probably working her 2nd job to notice.
I'd bet anything this was a hoochie dress and she shouldnt of been let in! Good for them for standing up to this getto hood rat, and yes she must be if she is arguing with the police to get arrested. No respect for the law!

Just because her parents "signed off" on the dress doesn't mean it was appropriate. There are too many instances of parents who seem to be as lacking in common sense as the children they're supposed to be guiding.

For instance...

...parents who provide alcohol to their underage children.
...parents who allow their teenage daughters to get breast implants.
...parents who provide illegal drugs to their children.
...parents who allow teenage children to have their boyfriend or girlfriend sleep in the same bed with them.
...parents who involve their children in their criminal activites.
...parents who operate crystal meth labs out of their houses.
...parents who allow their children to wear t-shirts, etc. with vulgar wording on them.

Just because some parent says a certain behavior is okay doesn't mean a school district has to go along with it.

I'd like to see a picture of this prom dress.

Here's a link to a story, with a picture of the dress in included.

The girls looks a a street corner slut in that dress! It would be acceptable for a Hollywood event, but not for a high school prom.

Her parents must be brainless!!

This is just wrong. She could have put on a jacket or some such to cover some skin.

Did her parents even see it? She could have had on something else before she left home. The skirt being short is not too bad but the ribbon barely covering the top shows way too much. 100% hoochie!

A picture of Marche in her dress is now in the story. Do you still think it is too skimpy?

Dave, Check the website again. There is a picture on there. The dress is gold and only covers her waist and her breast. The rest of her body was not covered. I thought it was more like a skimpy bathing suit with a mini-mini skirt. If her parents let her out in this dress then the parents should be held responsible as well.

I see you have seen the dress but not before I sent the other comment. I could not have said it better.

I wasn't the least bit surprised at the picture ... I agree Dave she looks like a street hooker ... if I had a daughter she would have to get past me first in that thing (can't even call it a dress ... not enough material to call it that) ... the article said they didn't give her a choice except to go home or go to jail ... uuummm hello that's a choice and one that I think was justified by the school officials facilitating this event ... makes one wonder about the mentality of the parents or well lack there of is more fitting

Bravo for the school no allowing such a dress at the prom. It was in-appropriate attire for a HS function! It looked more like cover-up for beach wear!

Tacky dress to say the least, but more than that, totally inappropriate for a high school girl. MAYBE an adult for a gala or black-tie event, but even then, it's still a tacky dress.

The right call was made.

Sounds like people in Houston are successfully being sidetracked.

How about paying some attention to some real authentic problems in the USA like the war in Iraq, this administration shredding our constitution, the high gas prices, high food and energy costs and the economy in general?

Let's not sweat the small stuff people and let's also not get so stuck on stupid, like we did in 2000 and 2004.

Who cares about her prom dress, on whether she has 2 parents, on whether they signed off on the dress, whether her poor mother has to work 2 jobs becuase of the royal mess made by the GOP, jeez, will that prom dress change our economy, bring the troops home?

Just another diversion so we lose sight of the real issues, wake up Texas, NY and all the other 48 states are watching you.

We need you to be on point.

Oh, yeah. Can we say "Ho"?

But I have a feeling there's more to this story than simply "Go home or go to jail". Sounds to me she was making a ruckus.(I think someone on the radio said she might have thrown something, can't confirm that). So it wasn't the dress alone that she got cuffed for, it was her "it's all about me" attitude. Typical for today's kids.
