Follow-up: Politician gets big bucks for little work

This guy is classic "deadbeat" and he gives a blackeye to the 'real" employees that are hardworking in his office and deserve every dime they earn. Evidently his employees are doing a great job without him around so why do they need him? Everyone should call the Governor and demand his sorry butt get canned, if the Governor get accomodate the citizens of Pasco County then the polls is where the people will speak next. I hope the clown doesn't intend on running for re-election, if he does, what a slap in the face that would be. And the fact he quit his job, how did he get hired back? That is an elected position. The Governor always appoints interims Clerks until the next election. Who dropped the ball on that one? Maybe Charlie Crist can explain that to the taxpayers.

Geez! Talk about ripping off the taxpayers! Of course this guy doesn't have a problem with his double dipping- duh! If he's still working, he shouldn't be getting that retirement pension-but then again, he's not really working, now is he?

Once again, I am discussed with the State of Florida, and the way they do business. After hearing about Pittman's salary & retirement income, it is no wonder that this state is in the financial situation that they are. Please consider this a request to have him pay the money he has collected and change the law, which does not allow these employees to double-dip.

|
Mr. Pittman should be ashamed and embarrassed that he is continuing to collect this money, when they are cutting funds to schools and elderly programs. It is a sad day that people in power are allowed to abuse it.

WHEN ARE WE(TAXPAYER'S) GOING TO HAVE ANOTHER "BOSTON TEA PARTY"!!!!!!! EVERY TAXPAYER NEEDS TO "GET INVOLVED" IN THEIR GOVERNMENT'S AND LET THEIR VOICES BE HEARD!!!!!!

An elected official working a full time job and only gets to come in a few hours a week to make a big salary? And double dipping from retirement? That is setting a bad example, both for the taxpayers of Pasco County and the employees who work under Mr. Pittman.
No matter why our state is in a tight budget crunch. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer, including the working class who put eight hours in and still can't make ends meet. This so-called luxury lifestyle has got to come to a complete stop now. And we voters have an opportunity to do this come November at the ballot box. |

I'll bet he's a transplanted northerner.

I just want to know where can I apply for that job. Work part-time hours and get paid as a full time employee. Awesome!
|
|
Yeah me too. And don't forget you get to be retired at the same time. What a deal! |

He looks like he ate all his salary. Good maybe he will die of food poison.

Actually, I think he may have proven which jobs can be cut to help manage the budget. Apparently, we don't need an actual Clerk of Court. The Clerk of Court can refer to the whole office staff.
Hey, Tampa Bay 10, how much would we save if we eliminated the position "Clerk of Court" and how could we do that? |

I worked for Jed Pittman for over 3 years when I lived in Pasco County. As an elected official, he was feared by all of his employees. The supervisors were so terrified by him, that they treated their underlings like Nazi war prisoners! He fired me an another female employee because of our ages, but we were unable to prove it. I was truly relieved when he fired me because I hated working for a Hitler!
He should be made to pay back every penny of the funds he has received from Pasco County. He should be brought to trial for committing fraud on Pasco County. What he has done is illegal and immoral! |

Sorry, I didn't tell you where I live now. I'm in Sarasota.

no wonder the country's in such an economic mess!

This is ridiculous, we are all struggling to pay our bills and here is someone taking advantage of an obvious loophole. This needs to be stopped immediately. How unfair to the tax payers in the State of Florida. Some of us are trying to figure out whether to put gas in our cars or food on our table and we see this. This is unforgivable!!!!

Just another example of gaming the system due to arrogant disregard for public opinion by this perp. Throw the bum out through whatever remedy is available to set an example to others thinking of doing the same! We are watching you!!!

Stop picking on him he has a HUGE food bill

Ann Hildebrand,a Pasco county Commissioner is doing the same thing. Do you remember the report on her? A commissiner since 1984, collecting her retirement and a salary. Same kind of double dipping. That's where your tax dollars are going! How many others???
Once inside the sky is the limit, these polititions know how to work the system, some just jump from one cush job to another. |
|
I disagree. I've worked for the Clerk's office for over 8 years and don't know anyone who fears Mr. Pittman. It's a great place to work. As for him only showing up a couple hours a day, with todays technology, a lot of people work from home. The reporter didn't bother to mention that he's in constant contact with the office at all times. Computers and cell phones have been around for a few years now, people don't have to be in the office to do their job. |
