This kid is off to a good start.I wonder when the drug deal gone bad murder will happen??

What do they expect from these kids when PARENTS let them play video games that show the exact same thing and its all over TV????
Maybe if they turn off the TV and actually get out and play like we did when we were kids things like this wouldnt happen so often. |

Heres another one, off to a great start in his life of crime. Yeah, keep breeding..... and don't do any real parenting, because it may stunt their spiritual growth.

More horseplay, more misunderstanding.

"Lutz Lady," I doubt that video games have anything to do with it; I've known kids over the years who've played the games and they're normal. Of course, they have lots of other activities in addition to the video games, PLUS parental supervision and involvement in their lives, so that makes a big difference.

5th grader with a gun? Give me a break. My grandson is in the 5th grade and would never even think of taking a gun to school let alone pot.

It's not just that they are playing video games, it's the type of games that are being played. The most popular game right now is "Grand Theft Auto". Some kids are playing games that they shouldn't be and it goes back to the parents actually being parents and not permitting it. |

The kid was probably acting out a scene from Grand Theft Auto IV.
Any parent who purchased that video game for their child is a complete moron! |

Yep, lets blame the video games and the television for peoples lack of parenting skills or maybe because the parents are so busy smoking pot and showing off their guns. I am sorry but Video games have nothing to do with this kids behavior. My son of 17 3/4 years has played video ganes all his life and yes he even plays Grand theft Auto 1 and 2 and he does not drink, do drugs or even disrespect adults. Is he perfect?? Nope he is not. I raised him as a single father and he graduates this June with honors, and has joined the Marines. I doubt it was the video games and tv that raised him to what he is today, it was me and the way he was raised. So we can keep blaming everything but ourselves for the way our kids turn out, It is a good scape goat

Well Darn DapperDave, I guess I am a moron. But I am an extremely proud moron. But I will take the responsibilty of the way he has turned out. For some reason it doesn't seem so moronish...

Your son turned out fine in spite of GTA. Probably still be better without it. My kids won't play games about stealing, killing and beating up hoes. I have never had a gun and quit smoking pot when I had kids. But if you are going to keep drugs and guns in your house at least keep them locked up. |

People that are saying the video games and tv is the problem give it up! Yeah its not right but thats not the problem.

Perhaps I should have been a little more specific. Any parent who buys such a game for their child AND at the same time fails to provide proprer guidance to that child is a moron. Some kids are able to separate fantasy from reality on their own. Others need some adult guidance to make such distinctions. Nevertheless, I would not buy such a game for my son or daughter. To each his own. P.S. Would you let your son view pornography or consume alcohol under your supervision? |

DapperDave just said what I was going to say - I think some of the people who were speaking out against games like GTA were referring to the parents who use video games and TV as a substitue for parenting. Joe of Port Richey, even though I wouldn't want my kids to play GTA, your son obviously understood the difference between a game and reality, and that understanding comes from the parenting you obviously gave him. So many kids don't have that, and then their parents are the ones who wonder what went wrong later, when everything goes horribly wrong.
