Jury says two Derby police officers assaulted man

When it comes to Gino I am not surprised, He thinks he is god behind that badge. He shouldnt be a police officer.

Recently I accompanied a relative to the derby police station. I found the officiers rude,mean spirited & acting like Gods. They did not want to help & took no interest in resolving the matter

Authorities, take note of these comments. Your supposed "rogue" a-hole officers are more prevelent than you'll ever admit. In this day and age of camera phones and Internet, the public will soon expose the FACT that most police officers are arrogant, self serving narcissists who are in it to get laid. This is Derby, the smallest town in CT - look above and read the comments. This (these) cops already had a reputation nobody cared to do anything about. Am I the only one sick and tired of reading DAILY about these cocky mother fu%%ers? I can't wait to read what all the arrogant cops have to say for themselves...

Sad to say, but it appears that Derby PD does have a soiled reputation. It may be time for the new chief to alert his officers to the fact that they work for the public. If they want respect, then they should attempt to earn it and not beat it out of citizens. Its too bad that all the Derby officers have to suffer for the acts of the spoiled, child like few. Not all of them are like this.

ROFLMAO!!!!!! I still cannot believe they made Gino Jr. a cop. I guess haveing Daddy being a former mayor helped alot. Does he still suck his thumb?? I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. His father thinks his **** doesn't stink and so does Jr. His grandmother is probably rolling in her grave right now. How she ended up with such assh*les for a child and grandchild is beyond me. One of the sweetest ladies ever to walk the earth. He should be fired for his antics, him and this other cop. The sad thing is, is that Gino does not see anything wrong with this kind of behavior. He has always been like this, even as a kid. He needs to grow up, get a life, and get over the "little man syndrome".

As a Derby resident, I find most of the cops to be decent, but like everyone I have a horror story as well.
The problem with a-hole cops is that they have authority and it's usually personal. Think of all the other a-holes we deal with daily - we can either tell them off, walk away, file a complaint, etc... while we can not do that to cops.

If you really want to deal with arrogant bastards, go to Mohegan Sun and deal with the shuttle buses.

Derby's finest? Ha! Now what? This was a civil court case. Have these two officers been charged with any criminal charges? Do they get to keep their jobs? Just curious.

Thank god that guy lives in FLA now or he probably wouldn't get any peace, let's hope the blue arm can't reach down south.....

Maybe the cops assaulted the developers (of downtown Derby) too and that's why it'll never be finished...

I am in no way sticking up for these cops. They definately crossed the line, but what did this individual do to get his butt whipped? From the inital article, it sounded like he was drunk and out of control. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Well I guess its everywhere. Not just New Haven, Hamden, West HAven, Milford, Cheshire etc.... All cops are scum. They hide behind their badges and guns and they think they can do what ever they want to who ever they want with no consequences.$15,000. Thats it??????Thats a shame. It probably didnt even cover his dr bills meds and lost time from work. And who ever said it , its a good thing he moved to Fl because i would bet that these cops would be after him and they would let Ansonia cops know and they would watch for him and Orange etc..... I am sorry no individual deserves to get beat by anyone. Especially a cop who is supposed to be respected. Well you have to earn respect. I could care less if you have a badge on, your no better than anyone. I hope these cops got fired. With no pay no pension no nothing.

like most small towns, the derby police dept is an extension of high school machismo and bullying... conducted by those who acted likewise in highschool... and didn't graduate... or leave.

I can say with certainty Gino should naver have been a cop. He has alot of baggage before he even became a cop and more now. No doubt he is where he is because of his former mayor father. The sgt did not present well to the jury at all.

I'm sure this guy was a real saint too......I'm sure he was just waiting patiently to be taken care of!! He had a previous encounter with the officers where he was quite belligerent and defiant, I'm not saying that this encounter constituted a beating but he was no innocent bystander!!
