If you vote the same idiots back in then you can't complain about what you get. Now you have a chance to do something about it.

A few weeks ago on MSNBC dot com there was a listing of the best states to live in US. They took in factors such as cost of living (we were at the bottom of the list meaning the most expensive), education, quality of life and business friendly (we were near the bottom of the list). Why would anyone want to open or move their business here when the cost of energy is high, we have a high workers comp. expense and unemployement cost in addition to the regulations. I feel bad for all the young people just out of college. Not only is it expensive to live here, where are the jobs that will pay enough to live here. No wonder they are leaving for other states that offer good jobs at a reasonable cost of living. Wake up Governor Rell, the future of CT is going off to live elsewere.

NAM (Nat'l Association of Manufacturers) rates every state. Entire Northeast fares very poorly as business-unfriendly region.

1 I'm sure that once September rolls around and the value of the dollar does what the Zimbabwe currency does we will be looking back on this and thinking this was "the good old days" I'm stocking up on tarps to build my next house out of. |

I can quote you something cute from the bible and proclaim, "we are not in a recession". "And there really were WMD in Iraq". The legislators in Hartford might have to have fewer catered lunches and cocktail parties if they lowered business taxes. |

2 Bob: It would impolite to call you stupid, or to suggest that it is actually you "who has no clue what is going on in Connecticut." So let me politely say it in another way: You must be a state employee bitter about something to have such personal dislike for Rell, because you most certainly don't understand business, attracting business, retaining business, or business and personal taxes. Are you even a homeowner and/or a taxpayer? First, Bob, aside from Massachusetts and Vermont, Connecticut is a VERY blue state. That means we have a Democrat-controlled legislature that believes that all business should be strictly regulated by government; that business of all sizes should offer family leave and extended benefits; and that Richard Blumenthal should be the business szar. Couple that attitude with at least 80 of the 169 communities being very BLUE communities with an emphasis on social serivces, welfare expansion, and business opposition, then it isn't hard to understand that growing or developing a business -- already a difficult task -- is inconceivable in Connecticut. The alternative is to have everyone work for the state or a municipality. The problem is they've already tried that in the Soviet Union, and the Russians went belly-up. You have a Democrat-controlled legislature, with a |

CT ranks 4th in MEDIAN household income at $60,551 (2006 US Census). TN ranks 41st in MEDIAN household income at $40,696 (2006 US Census). Maybe that's why housing costs less in TN... |

Actually, housing costs far less simply due to the fact land is plentiful in most states across middle America.

BTW, good luck to the many posters here who have indicated they are either thinking of, or in the process of moving.
250,000 did that in the 90s from Ct, and that is why Ct lost a Congressman. It was one of the largest net losers in state-to-state migration, and Ct lost 18k more that way in 2006. |
