I know this man personally. I find it hard to believe he would ever be inclined to steal ANYTHING, let alone a garden hose from his place of employment.

As for the people complaining about the NAACP protesting his arrest, they would be outraged if this were happening to a highly-decorated white officer. I don't think they would have an ax to grind with anyone for protesting that.

By the way, the NAACP is not racist, nor does it seek to exclude whites. I don't see any mainstream organizations rushing to Mustafa's defense. Why shouldn't the NAACP take up his cause?

These people are idiots. They are protesting yet, "The Valley chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People says it will investigate why Officer Mustafa Salahuddin was arrested this week on sixth-degree larceny charges." WHY ARE YOU PROTESTING WHEN YOU HAVEN'T EVEN DONE AN INVESTIGATION YET!?!??! These people are simply racists, plain and simple. They give people of color a bad name and continue to degrade them.

If he was arrested for rape & murder the naacp would get involved. I'm surprised Al Sharpton isn't in it yet, time will tell....

All that is required for a successful lawsuit against the APD is the APPEARANCE of retaliation, which this case certainly has!
You people whining about this man's being permitted to have a beard for religious reasons probably don't remember that schools don't serve MEAT on Fridays.Remember why??
Racism is a form of mental illness and the APD needs an in-house psychiatrist!
I congratulate this officer in advance of his huge windfall settlement. He doesn't deserve to have to work with a bunch of idiots anyway!

He is one of the best officers Ansonia has ever had. Kevin should be digging deeper into the department!!! The Lieutenants and Sgt's get away with murder. They have raided homes without proper warrants. They have stolen property from those homes and claim they never taken anything. How about the sexual misconduct that they get away with? Cheating on thier wives with women they pull over or get a call to thier home. I hope he gets off and blows the lid off the depatment on these things that were mentioned!!!
if this is one of the best apd is in deep fecal matter.

The bottom line here folks is that this person was accused of committing a crime. We as a society should not judge him solely on the incident itself until it is proven otherwise..ie "innocent until proven guilty." I do find it intriguing that an organization such as the NAACP immediately comes to his defense primarily based on his skin color and rather than the act that was committed. Would society be just as accepting if an organization such as the Klu Klux Klan or the White Wolves defend a White Officer?...NO! Let this Officer have his day in court and do without the involvement of any Race -related organization to defend him. This action only leads a person to believe that it is an acceptable practice to commit a crime because of your ethnicity and the immediately being protected by a racial organization. I now think far less of the NAACP and will no longer make any more contributions to that organization. Oh yes, by the way, I am a Caucasion-American...sorry, let me correct that, I am an AMERICAN!

Oh ya, ya know why when a certain Ansonia cop goes bad and no arrest was made? Becasue, the officer that did it has family that are State Police and Local officials. Also, he was a pill head.

Come on, I have to agree with the NAACP on this one. A garden hose? Really? Is that the level of crime in Ansonia worthy of arrest?

From what I just learned from the APD, all he has to do is say he found it and if they can not prove that he knew it was stolen, there will be no arrest.
Do you know how to read?? He was already charged, so that means there was an arrest!!

"Salahuddin's lawyer says his client has been charged with larceny for allegedly stealing a garden hose from the police department."

Decorated for what, some politically correct Officer Friendly meet and greet the community things. You shouldn't get special recognition for doing what you should be doing, it's part of ther job.You get your recognition at the end of the week when you pick up your paycheck.

The whole Madison Police debackle came to light and was investigated over Lobsters... Look how many cops were arrested and fired...

If I were a LEO for my own safety I wouldn't want a beard in fear it would be used aganst me while makeing an arrest. Thats also why alot of cops/security/EMS wear clip on ties if that is part of the uniform...

Was it stolen. I understand it was just moved from one faucet to another at the PD and nobody could find it for three days. If that's the case I wan't someone arrested for stealing my car keys. I couldn't find them last weekend.

Typical abuse of power by the Police.

NAACP always has to pull the race card out of every situation. They did the same thing in Bristol last year. Worthless group I tell you.... WORTHLESS. If you all want to be created equal then knock it off.
