1 your right ,your concious of being ignorant and dumb by leaving a loaded gun under a pillow will live for ever on their minds and thats good .They should've known better . |

"VOR" quit with the anti-gun physco-babble - enough of scum like you using incidents like this to your advantage. Blah blah "evil NRA", you showed your ignorance when you led off like that. Do you know how many gun laws there are? More than 10,000...unregulated? I don't think so! There are already laws requiring guns not to be accessible by those under 16 - the specific CT GS has been quoted here already..! And quoting some biased, fact-selective NEJM article...that so called article has been picked apart so many times I can't believe you brought it up as its not nearly credible. If my child found a gun on a play date, he'd know not to touch it, because unlike paranoid leftists like you, I taught my kids not to touch firearms without an adult and proper/safe firearm handling at the proper age! I'm appalled by anti-gunners always jumping on these stories to use them - trying to blame the object instead of the parents or criminal.. Lets ban water next... http://www.poseidon-tech.com/us/statistics.ht... ANYTHING can be dangerous to a child. Its the parent's responsibility to keep the child safe. Obviously if the child was unsupervised with unfettered access to the gun, the parents failed their responsibility.. Let the police and justice system handle this and let the parents mourn...and stop using it to attack responsible owners. |

1 I know this family personally and I don't where you are getting your facts but the infant daughter is with family and wasn't removed by DCF. Get your head out of your **** before you speak about something you don't have the facts on. |

1 If my child died because I left a loaded gun in his reach, I would expect and deserve these comments. |

the father was a lt in the fire dept, doesn't he know better than to keep a LOADED gun within reach of a child? I am sure in his career he faced many deaths of children ...so why wasnt he more conscious of what a gun could do???????

Wow! Just Wow!
I am still trying to wrap my head around how this 2 yr old was able to do this. I mean a loaded gun can be pretty heavy especially to a 2 yr old and I just cant fathom how in the hell that poor baby managed to do that. I wont argue guns vs anti guns but where I live you can get free gun locks from the police department and next weekend when we have the Italian Street Festival the WHPD I am sure will have their little booth set up giving away free gun locks and other assorted items. I have my own personal feelings about guns. I hate them but the 2nd amendment gives us the right to bear arms and I respect that and the rights of people to own them. I just cant imagine what the hell these two parents were thinking, leaving a loaded gun under the pillow??? Did they not think to check on their child? I am sure it took more than 2 seconds for him to find it, play with it, fire it and shoot himself. I remember all too well about how quick 2yr olds can get themselves into trouble, hurt etc you must keep your eyes on them at all times. My heart goes out to the little boy and yes to his parents as well because as much as I think they were complete idiots and reckless with their gun, they lost their child and that in itself no matter what the circumstances are is heartbreaking and something they will have to live with for the rest of their lives. I dont think there will be enough punishment in the world to make them pay for it, they will pay for it for the rest of their lives. RIP little one! |
Wont have to put myself in their shoes because I would not be ignorant enough to leave a loaded gun lying around the house, especially within a childs grasp. Get real!!!!! These parents should lose their other children if they have any. They are completely irresponsible, and now they have a dead son because of it. |

Time to come back to this... Some have said much better what I was initially going to try to write about which was that was that these people don't need our opinions. They most likely won't ever be reading this in the first place.
I guess my biggest issue is WHAT will be the betterment of society by imprisonning either of these individuals? I know there are laws, we all get that. I am also getting sick and tired of people on boards such as this consistently calling for someone elses head on a silver platter. This individual incidient as well as any of the others that happen at random could have and should have been preventable, again this armchair hindsight opinionating is getting rediculous. This is another small protion of a larger evil within this society. I sincerly don't care what any of you have to say anymore as you "religious" hypocrites continue to spread your hatered for those you feel are inferior. I am saddened that the internet has lead to this avenue of self glorification. I am on the other hand very happy to see that the local communtiy (as more news is written on this subject) is more supportive than the troglodytes one finds here. It's nice to know that this community (who are MY neighbors as I share the same zip code as Jewitt City being from Lisbon, CT) can overlook a MISTAKE of such severity, be supportive, and let those who are paid to judge ones acts do so, AFTER THEY have seen all the evidence. Also to those who have nothing better to do or say than edit someones spelling, yet adding nothing to the topic, |

The fact of the matter is that the parents failed this toddler...you can spin it anyway you like but unless God himself came down from the heavens and put this loaded gun into the hands of the toddler (and the parents can prove this) then the parents aided in killing this toddler. Intentional or not. It happened.
The fact that the toddler died being a horrible, horrible outcome does not absolve the parents from the fact that they failed this toddler. If this case is not good enough for the death penalty then apparently stupid parents are worth more than an innocent toddler's life. That would be a great message to send. Fry 'em. |

who do you think you are to group everyone together as being stupid, accept government assistance,or have friends that happen to be aliens because of where they live? My fwwennds are offended. I have lived in this area for almost 10 years the school system is one of the highest rated in the state and these parents are not saints but they made a mistake like I am sure you do everyday unfortunatly your mistake will not cost you a loved one. But God will see how you behave and how you treat others I PERSONALLY THINK YOU OWE THE COMMUNITY OF JEWETT CITY AN APPOLOGY FOR INSULTING THEM. REMEMBER THOSE TOES YOU STEP ON TODAY MAY BE CONNECTED TO THE **** YOU ARE KISSING TOMORROW. YOU NEVER KNOW WHO MAY JUST BE FROM JEWETT CITY AND YOUR INSULTS ARE NOT HELPING THE PARENTS OF WYATT OR THE COMMUNITY THAT IS IN SUPPORT OF THEM |

Well put my heart goes out to the parents of the baby boy, as well as those who had to endure the image of that morning. I know one of the resident state troopers that was on the scene that morning and I can only imagine how his heart must have ached dealing with the situation in a professional manner. as they all did I think we should all give credit to those who had to be there and stop bashing the parents it is not going to bring the baby back it is a very very heartwrenching situation and I could not imagine if I were on the other end of this how I could deal with this. forget about the finger pointing let the police deal with the legal things just pray for the family and the other baby that is involved. If the law needs to get involved they will it is not our place to tell them how to do their jobs. as of right now there have been no charges filed against the parents. keep that in mind |
I posted this in the link you have here, but just so as you get the message: "Can and will anyone point to any parent in recent history that has hit and killed their child with their car, SOBER even, that has been arrested and charged for neglegence, endangerment, manslaughter? There have been several around here in the last couple years... Where were all you sanctimonious self-righteous rejects THEN? It's because it was a firearm; you are simply anti-gun and using this as another statistic to further your cause!" |
