Two weekend shootings in New Haven

New Havana is a "sactuary City" what should we expect?
Even if the people involved are not illegals, the fact that laws are so disregarded at so many levels creates the atmosphere for such to happen and be tolerated.

i hope one day the violent could stop and people could live in peace with one another.

This is why it's called "Pistol Waving New Haven". So sad for the families that are affected by the senseless violence.

It's not called Gun Wavin' New Haven for nothing...I don't think that I haven't gone to work in New Haven for a week doing EMS and there hasn't been a shooting...its absurd. And the cops don't care either. Get Destefano OUT...

I think it is sad that all of this is happening right outside of our doors. Now having lost our boy Emilio it only makes it worse, something must be done because nothing has gotten better. the city if only creaping its way to destruction and it sickens me.

Turn in all the home boys you know who are criminals, turn in the gun carriers,give up the vilence if you are dissed. The only ones who can stop it are you and your friends.

I'm a single parent of a 18 year old and i worry about him every day. Everyone is worrying about the war in iraq when were having war right here on the streets of New Haven, I feel deeply that in the run down neighborhoods no one gives a dam and im just one voice. I want to see better for our neighborhoods, but like they say it takes a village to raise a kid and the parents of these kids are getting younger and younger. And to be honest our kids do mess it up for people who want to better the neigborhood. I vote, and also encourage other people to vote. Our youth need better options, give up people, give tghe guns up, what happens when they do that and others want to retaliate, thats what kids are worried about now (squealing) in other words being a snitch. Society is screwed up everyone is just looking out for their own (not good). What does a comunity really mean? Desperate in New Haven

How to solve the problem:
1. Curfew
2. Hold parents responsible for children's behavior. If a kid breaks the law, kid AND parent do community service.
3. Using DNA testing, find the father of these kids and hold him responsible. If he doesn't have a job, put him to work picking up trash, road construction, graffiti clean-up, whatever.
4. Strictly Enforce existing gun laws. There are plenty of them.
5. New Haven police MUST live in New Haven That way they will care about it.
6. Deputize responsible citizens.
I'm sure there are other ideas as well...

Send all the illegals to New Haven! Keep them out of my neighborhood.

i knew him from school and alot of us hung out together, its sad to see that his life has ended and that who ever did this to him may still be out there, but my sincere prayers to the family of emilio, i hope that you some day find closure in your hearts and i hope that the police catches this horrible person that took emilios life away...oh and his girlfriends crew needs to stop all there imaturity when it comes to his friends going to the wake...i mean he is dead nothing can bring him back now, so fall back...like i said i feel horrible for his mother and his family..good luck to ya and god bless you emilio...this street violence needs to stop...
