Hosed by the system wrote: Maybe the parents want ANOTHER pool on the otherside of thier damn 6000 sq foot home......... I have no sympathy for these bastards either, they want to run this guy out of business because they are rich and feel that they are entitled to more $$$$. What a great way to honor the death of your child. The poor child would still be alive today if they were actually watching the kid.

PS. I'm no pool expert, but doesn't the pool pump go on at night time when no one is going to be swimming in it?

I have two children one 3 and one 8 and I would never let my kids in our pool unless either my wife or myself are outside with them. One second is all it takes for something tragic to happen.. Always keep an eye on your kids...

Did the person who installed the devise have the required state license? This should not have happened.... state plumbing codes are a part of connecticut general statues thus state law, the law was broken period

This is Greenwich. What better way to get that helicopter landing pad they always want.Sue a pool Co because you were not in the pool with your child to save him. I hope the Parents have nightmares every night for ever. The looks of this home proves to me that they do not need money.they want to justify their Ignorance as Parents. So if they blame someone other than their Pathetic selves some how this will allow them to sleep again.-------WRONG!!!!!!!!!! I hope your house is Haunted now.Don't go in the pool alone.Someone might be waiting for you.

Too bad this guy isn't black. If he was, the NAACP could organize a march on his behalf.

Ok...so, let me get this straight....if a strange kid gets in my yard and drowns in my pool, its my fault. However, if my kid drowns in my pool - its the Pool Company's fault?!?!?!?!?
(stumbles away shaking head at the idiocy.........)

This case will have absolutely zero jury appeal. What average middle class person who is trying to figure out how to pay for gasoline is gonna feel sorry for these uber-rich people who don't supervise their kid when they were advised that the drain cover was broken and needed to be replaced? Just read the sentiment expressed on this board. CWOT.

I read something similar back in 1999. Somewhere in Ohio they have public pools with large drains in the center, a young girl was sucked up with it and it pulled out her intestines through her anus. So, if anyones to blame it's the city inspectors, but seeing as where they live...

what wrote: <quoted text> I agree, I would like to know who is taking a look at the inspection reports and who let the pool pass inspection. Probably the same idiots that are inspecting the bridges....

If David Lionetti cannot claim ignorance of the law, how can the building inspector do just that, after all the inspector, if he was doing his job, saw with his own eyes that the drain lacked a drain cover.Lionetti and the town inspector should be sitting side by side in that courtroom.

after seeing this, if I were a contractor, I certainly wouldn't take any jobs in Greenwich where I could be prosecuted rather than just sued.

The parents should be held responsible period. It took them 4 years to realize this safety device was not in their pool. Thats like buying a large appliance and after 4 years you want to return it because it doesnt work. Bull. Its the parents fault, they dont want to take the blame so they lay the blame on someone else. Where were they when this BABY was in the pool????

The safety device is probably cumbersome and unattractive. the function is there but the apearance is not. So many people care more for appearance than function that they do not care what the code is.
