Sounds like a good, idea but has MANY hours of proceedure needed to perfect it.
Why not develop it before you put into operation

Any proactive measures to keep citizens informed is a good thing. Yes, there may be some kinks in the system, but as a homeowner/parent in this town, I am more than happy to know a system is in place to help us be better informed when we see flashing lights in our neighborhood. No worries about the problems, bound to happen, we all have to learn. Keep up the good work!

Wow-I didn't know about this. It's no wonder though that they don't have the correct info in Branford-they can't even manager to get my car taxes straight. I tell them I owe something they say no and then voila months and months later I get a bill saying they are overdue and the act like I am trying to avoid paying them!

It's only as good as the people running the town and believe me-that needs help!

And if the phone lines are down in an emergency? The Branford cops have come to my home several times because theres another adress across town thats almost the same. Each time I ask them to check the address, I get an "oh sorry". Yeah, I feel safer.

Wow! Branford has a way to notify us if something is wrong! Neighboring communities have had this system for several years. In fact, the system saved an elderly man in Guilford a couple of years ago. Now, Branford wants us to believe that they are on the cutting edge. Not. Like anything else, Branford is the last to invest in something good.

Branford had a 97% connection rate for this emergency call-out. That's unheard of in the emergency communication business. The guy that didn't get the call had an unlisted number Einstein. Maybe you should pettition the state of Connecticut to release its 911 database if your concerned that one person didn't get the call. The whole idea behind emergency notification systems is to get the word out to as many people as possible in an emergency as quickly as possible. Branford chose the best notification system on the market today called CodeRED. Maybe instead of giving Branford crap you should ask the other 50+ Towns in Connecticut why they don't have systems.

Hey BFritz, Branford is on the cutting edge. They chose the best emergency notification system known as CodeRED. It's the latest and greatest system going. Guilford uses the old Hardware-based system known as Reverse 911. That system was good 15 years ago when it was invented but now it's old technology. If Guilford had to launch a call to its entire population it would take 24 hours +. Branfords system could reach its entire population within minutes. They didn't get Reverse 911 years ago because its to expensive and it breaks all the time. You shouldn't criticize Branfords officials for trying to help their community. There's a lot more that goes into emergency notification than you know. You don't have a clue Fritz
