I think it is wrong to block off the entire park so that the local people who pay their taxes cannot even enjoy the beach. That is totally wrong.

You drugies come to the park and drug it up all weekend while the people from the town cannot even enjoy their park for a whole week and they pay the high taxes in the city not you.

How ignorant of you people to assume that because people like a certain kind of music they are druggies.....it's a shame that you sterotype like that. Why not a celebration of likeminded people? There are tons of fairs and festivals out there that celebrate different kinds of music, jazz festivals, blues festivals, fairs with country music singers...should we assume that the country concerts will have nothing but rednecks? I can tell you one thing...i will be at both Gathering of the Vibes and the Toby Keith concert later this month, and I am neither a druggie nor a redneck.

Theses people will bring in a ton of revenue for the City of Bridgeport. What else will bring people into a city that a lot of people consider a arm pit. Besides Harbor Yard the main draws are drugs and prostitution.

i agree. their won't be any more or less drugs their this weekend than any other weekend. Seaside has been a pit for years, and it least there won't be any hard drug pushing thugs like usual

I am a working professional and I am spending the entire weekend at the 'Vibes'. I am not a hippy but I love music and camping. You probably don't know what fun is. We 'hippies' will be glad not to see you there this weekend.

Get a life. We love music and camping. Apparently you have a miserable life and don't like to see people have fun. Stay home "wrong'.

Lol I hope you get shot tonight later in your **** of a city. I mean I'm from New Haven and really New Haven and Hartford aren't much better, but Hartford has a nice business downtown section, New Haven has Yale and a really nice downtown area, Bridgeport has heroin and crack dealers. And they're camping because an all festival pass costs almost near $300 as it is. Why would you pay for a hotel when you could just camp with hundreds of like minded people.

And 15,000 basically rich suburban kids and old hippies coming into the poorest city in the state. Yea obviously that helps Bridgeport's economy in no way. Hell even the WTNH article about it starts off with:

Bridgeport (WTNH)-- A four-day festival kicks off in Bridgeport today, bringing thousands of music lovers, and their pocketbooks, to the Park City.

Yeah, I gotta agree. Im not really a fan of hippies, or gangsta rappers. Hippies are the less of 2 evils.

I just want to commend the organizers of this event, "Gathering of the Vibes"
for their wonderful contribution to our community here in Bridgeport CT.
So many positive aspects are wrapped up in this kind of event. Of course the music is the center attraction, but it's the fellowship and the many wholesome social causes that are advanced in gathering of this kind and magnitude. Whether it's the registering of first time voters or food drives to keep east coast
food banks stocked, preserving the Long Island Sound, the advancement of needed green energy, or simply the pleasure folks have coming together, camping and enjoying incredible Rock Music, it's
all good stuff! As a resident of Fairfield county, I am very pleased to see this kind of energy and culture come to town. I just wanted to take a moment to thank Ken Hayes and his administrative team.

Well, I hung out all day Friday, with my 9 year old daughter, and neither of us did any drugs or even drank beer.
We just listened to the groOvy music and danced the day away!
I don't think I've ever seen Seaside Park look cleaner or happier.
Kudos to Fabrizi and the current mayor. This is GOOD for Bridgeport.
I'm a business owner from New Haven.
Personally, I think it would be a great idea to put on a Latin/Brazilian music festival on in the park, invite bands like Maná, Los Jaguares, etc., Charlie Brown Jr. from Brasil.
I'd hang out for that, too, and, probably 3/4 of Bridgeport would, since it's mostly immigrants.
That would be fun.
I'm sorry I missed Los Lobos at last year's Gathering of the Vibes.
Heard lotso great tunes this year, anyways.
Deep Banana Blackout ROCKed! I'd never heard them before.
Black Crowes are awesome. Assembly of Dust...
lotso great tunes.
And, it really isn't that much like a Dead show, anyway.
This was a lot more...commercial, really.
There may have been a few folks passing a joint, but drugs were not nearly as prevalent or in the open as in the old Dead tour days. I know...I was there.

My neice went to this concert with a friend, and ended up missing. Her mom is looking for her. She has put out a missing person report. She is 24, about 5.5 tall, slender build, short lite brown hair, has a boston accent, and may be druged, I belive she has a tatoo on her. If anyone sees her, please, call the bridgeport police and respond here. She is from Enfield Ct, and we miss her terribly.
