why would you get charged for urging someone to flee? I understand fleeing is illegal but why is it illegal to get scared and throw an option out there?

How can this be JUSTICE!!!!
These people have committed a horrific crime and left the scene and are getting minimal time. No wonder people continue to commit crimes, there is no TRUE punishment. Even the parents that tried to cover it up only got fined.
If that was your daughter that this happened to - would you really think this is fair? They killed somebody and didn't even care. What is our world coming to.

What's up the parents?

No MORALS IN THAT FAMILY.....

I taught my kids that if you are wrong face the consequences. I will stand by you no matter what. What type of parents are these to try to lie to help their child. I gues that's what they are teaching these kids these days. Kill and I will lie and say you were home.'

The parents should do time too....

She's an accomplice. I would think she's being charged for fleeing the scene of a crime.

perhaps having these convictions on their record for the rest of their lives might be considered as part of the punishment...?

Of course she should be locked up like another poster stated; she fled the scene of a crime....knowingly....

what if the girl who was run down was your kid, mom, sister....

Irrelevant met man.
The kid is DEAD.
Hit and run is a crime.
Who cares why the kid was in the road you fool; people tend to cross the road every now and then.

That wasn't a suggestion, it was a question...

I don't condone this crime in any way shape or form...

were they drunk when the hit the kid? why was the kid in the road?
She was crossing the street in a a well lit crosswalk when she her life was taken by two legally drunk kids who fled the scene. Does that make it her fault?

Words can't express my disgust in the connecticut legal system. A girl's life was taken by a drunk driver and a 37 month sentence for the driver and a 6 month sentence for the passenger who "urged" him to flee the scene just doesn't seem right in any way, shape or form. I can only hope that Carlee Wines parents can find some peace in knowing the killers didn't get away scott free. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

It IS strange that if she had been shot, they'd be in prison a LOT longer. But because the deadly weapon had wheels, for some reason 3 years is enough. They let her die, they left the scene, they should face much harsher consequences.

and mommy and daddy had the car fixed too...
they only got fined i think 4,000 dollars...
i don't get it...no outrage calling for more laws to tighen the loophole that the parents and the passenger used to get off and the driver was prob drunk but ny the time they found him....he was sober...so one crime(hindering) followed by another(leaving the scene) followed by some more illegality(hindering) and we come to the price they've paid (36 months-6 months-4,000 dollar fine) doesn't come close to the price ms wines paid...
money is the root of all that is evil....
