This is a sad story, condolences to the family! It seems like the person in the van wasn't even at fault and was still going to run. Can't say im sorry to hear they stopped him!

These people live like animals. Nothing but street justice, Why do these people not get the repect they want? Riding a dirt bike up and down the road is both stupid and illegal. Now don't get me wrong,I don't want to see any child getting hurt and I am sorry he did.

If I saw a mob trying to rip me out of the car and it was not my fault I would have taken off to. Sad to hear of the passing of the boy though. Condolences

I also send my condolences to the family, it is very sad. However, why is the kid on the road illegaly riding a dirt bike? I am tired of all the kids on their dirt bikes, quads, scooters driving crazy on the streets, this was bound to happen. I have to avoid them almost everyday coming home from work, they shouldn't be on the streets at all. When are their parents going to do their job.

Accidents are unfortunate, especially when fatal. The sad thing about this particular one is that it could've been avoided. I feel for the family, but he probably shouldn't have been riding the dirt bike to begin with. Nevermind that...kids will be kids...but I'm willin to be that he wasn't wearing a helmet, which might have eliminated that massive head trauma he suffered.

I hear there's a little controversy regarding the paramedics...that upon arrival, they tended to the van driver (who was supposedly unconscious) and ignored the child. I do not know what AMR's (or appropriate company) protocol is for such a situation, but to the violent citizens that intervened...think about it...had you put your own energy into helping the kid instead of beating the guy, the paramedics might have been able to put more focus on the kid.

To any teenagers that ride...remember, you are sharing the road with thousand pound vehicles...if you are going to ride, at least be responsible!

First of all god bless that child and his family. While the fact surrounding the incident are unknown, fault has not been placed yet, and the driver of the van was said to have attempted to flee, I have just one thought. Aren't dirtbikes illegal to operate on the roadways? Granted no one deserves to die like that but that child had NO buisness on the roadway. I see idiots tear up and down my residential street with dirtbikes with no regard for traffic laws. I think to myself, if I were to hit them by accident surely I would be at fault. It he wasnt on the road it never would have happened.

I've had groups of dirt bikers pass me on the left and right at the same time, some of them ride crazy, one false move and I could have knocked atleast 3 of them off their bikes.. It was probably both the van and dirt biker's fault.. Shows that people are fed up with hit n runs though if they beat him

Clearly! The dirt bike rider was at fault! They are illegal on the streets yet we put our lives in danger every day while driving beacuse they cut you off and speed through lights. We know New Haven Police have a lot to deal with but these dirt bikes and quads are a nuisance, and now they have become deadly.

Typical Gun Waving New Haven. My condolences to both of the families involved. How do we even know that the van tried to take off? Are we supposed to believe a group of people who beat this guy out of anger?

Sympathy to the family of the dirt biker and the van driver.

I didn't realize there was a dirt bike track thru the city of New Haven and I didn't realize the driving age had been dropped to 15. Hmmmm, interesting. If people don't put themselves in these situations they would not be dying like this dirt biker did.

I wasn't there, but do you really think the van was trying to flee a busy NH city street with his companies name plastered all over the van?! Sounds like he was trying to save his life.

aren't these bikes illegal on the streets? it's no excuse for a tragedy, but why is a 15 year old riding one in the city? i've passed them too, and they drive recklessly.

Lighten up, we don't know what that comment meant. Maybe it was a comment directed to NH residents in general given the news press the city has had recently with hit and runs, shootings and now this animalistic behavior.

Condolences to the family. And to address other comments, yes dirt bikes are illegal on the roadways unless they're modified enduros with turn signals, break lights, etc. Regardless of the bike type, 15 yr olds are to young to legally drive, period. If I were the van driver, I might have fled too and gone directly to the police station rather than deal with a mob of animals. I hope the NH police find everyone of those jerk witnesses and arrests them!!

One of the problems I have with this story is how do we know the driver of the van actually tried to flee. The accident happened in front of the boys home and the people were upset and beat the driver. Are the people just trying to cover there actions of beating the driver by saying he tried to flee?

I am sorry that the boy lost his life and my prayers go out to him and his family and the driver of the van.

I also pray that those who beat the driver get what they deserve. Accidents will happen but to purposely beat someone is intentional and should be punished.

Anonymous! Sounds like you're the racist one...!
What Bob was saying is in regards to the careless ness of 'these people'! Where do you hear any racist comment in that? It's people like you who cause the constant friction between the races...get a grip and stop looking for something you're not gonna find in that statement.

I'm so glad this finally happened. I live in New Haven and these kids in the housing projects zip around the streets on dirtbikes, quads, and pocketbikes.
This is how these welfare kids are spending OUR money. Plus, we taxpayers get to pay the medical bills as well! I once helped stop a bunch of kids beating the hell out of 2 ambulance drivers. They were laughing while they did it! These people are animals, and now we have one less. It's a good day.
