That's nice, but why isn't there a train that goes to Hartford?????????? I am unemployed and there are jobs in Hartford but no way would I commute by car. This state needs to make a train and station that will travel from Branford to Hartford and back.

The foamers love it too. They are so foaming for more 19th century solutions to our problems.

Ah, a new platform for the foamers to get all excited on. A better idea could be to "bring back the New Haven Railroad, and everything will be just roses". BTW, foam provides a solution rich in nitrates needed for good plant growth. Think of how pretty the plant will grow around the platform.

Finally. I just hope the parking lot is big enough. More and more people are using it every day and it would suck to have it be out grown in a year.

I don't understand this foaming bs. You shouldn't use your computer while tripping on LSD.

Went into NYC on Wed - Fri of last week -- there wasn't one parking space to be found in all of New Haven. I ended up leaving my car out in the open for 4 days bacause I had to park where the coliseum once was -- way on the Knights of Columbus end. Take the Train - Right! How about build some parking spaces?? Why do the parking garages stop at 3, 4 or 5 floors -- Build'em to the sky and lets move on already!

Thats because New Haven has a mayor that can only speak in "Jibber-Jabber". That fool needs to do something for the working man.

What does New Haven being the most incompetently managed city on earth have to do with anything? This is about the shoreline east and it's stations... which remove hundreds upon hundreds of cars from the garages and lots in New Haven and the roads leading to and from it.

You live in East Haven... you should have parked in Guilford for FREE and just taken the shoreline east train to New Haven and connected with Amtrak or Metro North. Or the next best solution... get a ride from a friend or family. Then there is no need to park anywhere.

The parking in New Haven isn't going to get any better any time in any of our lifetimes. More people, same amount of space, same idiot running the city. So we might as well all smarten up about how we get to and from this hell hole and find some new ways. The shoreline east train is the best deal going by far and it can't be beat.

Shoreline East is a money loser costing the taxpayers millions. Just to make a few people on the Shoreline happy. Either run 24/7 rail service and add Hartford, Waterbury and the Casinos to make it worthwhile-or skip it alltogether. The taxpayers shouldn't have to subsidize the shoreliners.

Kudos for the new station-now easier to get bikes on/off and finally offering weekend service from New London to New England. Now we need train service to other areas, i.e., Hartford, the casinos, etc. It will take a while for folks around here to get used to public transit because they are way too dependent on taking their big cars/SUV with one person everywhere because it is more convenient. I think Shoreline East should consider offering incentives/discounts like they did when they first opened for new riders to attract new riders. Now it is time for the state to develop new railroads (and receive state/federal funding)so that there is train service to Hartford, the casinos, etc.

You should move to a Communist country and be with your own kind. Mass transit is for fools who think the government is smarter than they are. Our freedom made this country what it is, and punks like you will never take it away. Crawl back into your dark little cave where you eat bean sprouts, smoke weed, and wax your carrot while watching Al Gore's Fictional movie.

The reason good rail service is not a priority in CT is:

1. Less gas and diesel taxes
2. Less motor vehicle property taxes
3. Less motor vehicle registration and licensing fees
4. Less work for the DOT
5. Less motor vehicle violation revenues for the state and local police
6. Less new motor vehicle sales tax revenues

I can go on and on. The problem is our elected officials, state and local workers are not working for the common good of this state.

"common good of the state", Right out of Karl Marx Communist Manifesto. You know, the book you sit home and drool over while you wait for your welfare check to arrive.

Not one of your points has the slightest ring of truth. The main reason is cost. We are no longer able to build an affordable mass transit rail system. Never mind the fact that the rails are in deplorable condition or woned by other entities. The trains go no where near any work destinations for the most part, and most residents would rather be in thier cars than spending hours each day on a train. Add in trying to figure out to get to work from the station safely and economically. You have a lose/lose proposition for the majority of commuters. We can't build a simple bridge for under a billion and 20 years. Could you imagine the cost of commuter rail?

Cuts have already been made to transportation projects due to less revenues from americans traveling less.

The drop in revenue is from what I quoted above. Do you think I just made this info up?

You say it like you're proud to be a Republican. Anyone with common sense knows at this point the Repubs are just as bad as the Dems. Tax and spend tax and spend tax and spend. Your Republican George Bush and the Republican congress he had until 06 spent as much as Dems.

Back to the point, mass transit is just another way for the environuts (such as yourself) to control our lives. You obviously wish to give up your freedom to the government and let them control when you can come and go, and where you can come and go to. Your lord and savior Al Gore and his gloBULL warming myth are fodder for those of you devoid of intellect. Live your life in the stone ages if you wish, but do it somewhere else, and don't dare try to force your socialist views on me. If you're foolish enough to start a culture war, don't forget that my side has the guns.
