This is a copy of a letter to the editor at the CTPost. I believe he makes great sense.
As a former Derby Police commissioner, I feel that Ansonia Police Officer Mustafa Salahudden should have faced a review by the Ansonia Board of Police Commissioners instead of being arrested after being accused of stealing a $25 garden hose from the department's headquarters.
I believe this matter should have been resolved within the Ansonia Police Department instead of causing a legal showdown with the officer, already involving an investigation by the Connecticut State Police and possibly the U.S. Department of Justice.
As a result, Salahudden's arrest created more legal bills for Ansonia taxpayers. This action is a classic example of why our court system is extremely overburdened. This issue should have been resolved within the police department!
