Something has got to be done about these teens fighting all the time. I was at my inlaws house on Sunday evening (mothers day). They live in a traylor park on the West tside of town. We were standing in the yard talking with my kids out side and before I knew it my almost 4 year old daughter saw a group of 15 to 20 teen agers walk up into her grandparents yard egging on a fight and next thing i know two girls were rolling on the ground fighting.... it happened so fast that my daughter saw the whole thing... these kids have no respect for other people let alone themselfs..When my father in law tried to break it up while these kids were on his property they tried to push him down..he is 62 years old...and my daughter saw that before i could get her inside...It took 30 to 45 min. for the offers to get their and then they had attitude and did not even take notes from people who saw it happen. That is just wrong..they said they could not do anything to the girls who were fighting...That's sad our kids of the future have no consequences for their actions. That really bothers me. Because if we do not nip this in the bud now then next time someone might have a knif or gun and someone inocent is going to get hurt! It's sad that some one has to get hurt or killed before authorities do anything about it! On the other hand parents need to take more responsibility for their kids and know where they are and what they are doing at all times (teenager or not). If I am cooking and am not sure what 4 yr old and 2 yr old are doing I stop what I am doing and check on them. It's part of being a parents. Yes it is tireing at time, but you chose to have them and raise them.. The one mom had said we were eating dinner?!?!( And you didn't notice she left) That is sad.. When we went to leave last night my daughter was scared out of her mind to go outside to the car. She started crying and carring on because she was scared!...Number one this should have never happened and number two these girls should have been arrested...or something. the one girl who started it has been going around the neighborhood beating these girls up! Something needs to be done. Next time who knows what will happen..The way these kids act starts at home!!!These kids are our next generation if we let them act like this now how do you think they will act when they become adults if we do not teach them self control, self respect, respect for other people..Like I said before IT STARTS AT HOME...I know I have 3 kids myself!

Well, the unfortunate part is that this girl and her mother have probably been dealing with the other girls for some time, until it reached a boiling point. My kids go to an elemtary school close to Astral and my oldest daughter (9) comes home nearly every day crying about a bully in school and when I talked to the teacher and principal about it, they said their wasnt much they could do. Well, what other options do kids or parents have than to fight back. Please dont misunderstand, I am not pro-violence at all, but at the same time, who else is going to protect our children when they cant protect themselves. I may not agree with the mothers actions, but as we know the news typically only reports what they feel will grab a readers eye, so Im sure there is more to the story. I agree it starts at home, and unfortunately by the time they reach school age they are either in gangs or wanna be gangs or pretend to be thugs...I for one told my daughter, if the girl and her older sister keep picking on her and pushing her and kicking her then pick up a chair and smack the crap out of them and Im sure they will leave her alone...and I dare the school to call me.

I don't know what happened to being a lady...I was taught growing up that ladies don't fight and I taught my daughter the same.

Unfortunately, she was attacked by someone with 7 others backing her up at Sandalwood High School her sophmore year and had to defend herself. I was called and was told she was being suspended for fighting for 5 days. Now, granted, Duval has a zero tolerance rule but when asked what my child should have done in this situation, I was told (get ready for this one, it's a gem)...WAIT FOR A TEACHER OR SECUIRTY PERSON TO HELP YOU. If she had waited, she would have been severely injured. The fact that she fought back made the others run off. So even if those of us who do teach our kids not fight,we have to worry about those who won't...and like this Mother of the Year..join in.
Sad, sad situation for our teens, isn't it? I pray for our teens everyday and for the parents see what their lack of parenting skills is doing to their kids. God help them....

Good for the mom. Give her an award. Someone has to end the bullying since the schools are incapable.

I would normally say...nice example MOM! But I will have to wait and hear all the facts on this one. The mother MAY have walked her child to the bus stop b/c her child was having a problem with another child and who knows what happened after that???? You know how these young kids are nowadays with their mouths! I am not for adults fighting with children or encouraging them to fight..dont get me wrong..but nowadays that may be JUST what some of these kids need....A good a*s whoopin!!!

if you have a bully that has to be taken care of, get someone in your family that is older that no one knows and pay him or her to beat that bully in to a mental state..... it got rid of my nephews problem..... eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth..... quit being scared and take a stand.....

The same thing happen in lake forest the lady son's that starts everything. When the police is called they take there reports and tell the rest of us to say in our yards. When the fight was bought to our street. When trying to talk to the stupid parent, everytime her sons get whip she comes around with guns a (choppa at that). Take the police around there everytime they cannot find her weapon.

i was outside a store one day on their pay phone calling for directions to a job site. this kid walked up to me and told me to get off the phone in his neighborhood, he was about 12. i looked at him and laughed, i asked him does he know me and he said no, thats when i said i could beat his ass an inch of his life and would get away with it because no one knows me there. he looked scared and ran away. kids have no chance with these bullys, when the bullys are trying to bully grown-ups

I agree. Sometimes you have to fight back (and I don't mean only with violence, but use it when needed). I was raised to be a southern lady, but not a door mat. People will only take advantage of you or bully you if you allow them to do so.
