As a Vietnam veteran (69-70) and a recovering drug addict with 10yrs. clean and sober, I think Alvarez should be put in jail and made an example of. It's people like him that add to the problems that real veterans encounter when we come home!

I agree that this guy should do community service in a Veteran's Hospital, that would give him a perspective he's not had. Better yet, let's send him to the front lines in Iraq to serve the troops there and give him the chance to win his own posthumous medal.

I'm not really sure how you can blame a blowhard politician from Pomona in 2008 with your drug addiction stemming from a war that ended in 1975, but if it makes sense to you then go with it.

The guys in Nam won the battles. They weren't loosing when they left. Then the gutless politicians gave up. Our guys in Iraq are kicking ass and taking names. They are building hospitals, schools, bridges, highways and other forms of new infrastructure. A new country is slowly being built and it will be a buffer to the evil Iran and others.(Just ask the Japanese, Germans and Italians!) It's a shame though, it was veterans who gave you the right to say what you do about them. I'm sure they don't mind!

Don't waste your breath on people like that. They cannot accept the truth.

They would rather degrade or ridicule the veterans than give us any type of respect.

None of us served for the glory or thanks or medals.

We served because our country called or we served because we thought it was the right thing to do.

We served in spite of them running or choosing not to.

At least we can look at ourselves in the mirror and not have to convince ourselves that we did the right thing. We know.

They sit back and ridicule Vets and don't understand our pride, or the importance of our traditions and the sacrifice many of our brothers and sister have made.
