Having grown up here, there is no way on God's green earth I could EVER EVER EVER live away from the beach! I tried once and was so homesick and miserable!!! When I broke my leg a couple years back, I was dragging my cast around at the beach and when they took it off for good, I had half a sand dollar in there! I went through about 3 different casts because I wouldn't stay away from the beach! Had a horrible tan line too!!! hahahaI guess my hometown was Jacksonville since that is where I was raised.
I must confess that I do miss the beach. I love to walk down the beach with my shoes off and just watch the tides come and go!! I could literally (and have!!) spend hours and hours there. It is one of the most peaceful sights.
Oh geez, now I am homesick and wanting to come to the beach!!!

Well, the LORD has truly blessed me. I traded the beach for the Beautiful Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. Not to mention, HE gave me a wonderful husband and family to go with it. I do miss the beach, and come to Jax several times a year to visit. Who knows, I may move back there sometime. That is if I can get this farmer I married to leave his mountains!!! LOL |

You are very lucky!!! Ah the mountians... how nice! If you have to leave the beach, at least you left for something just as good (the husband and family...and mountains). HE works in mysterious ways I tell ya!!! ;0) |

Albany , NY, was where I was born, and we split our time between the house there and the place on Lake George, NY. My family had been in the South for over three centuries. I read an old diary where one of my relatives had visited Cowford, so came down here to see JU on 1975 for college. Stayed on, except for when I had to care of my sister's kids, and came back down as soon as I could. Now, I have been here longer than anywhere else. I do love it here!

My family's been here in Jax so long that they were given land in a Spanish land grant. I love it here despite some of the city's problems.

My mom lives in Bethlehem ~ between Athens and Atlanta... It is a nice SMALL town. I was raised in Callahan. I miss it ~ Oh how I love the small town gossip mills! |
|
Born in Cincy, Oh; moved Tampa Bay area (actually Hernando Cty.) in '74 (age 9), then ended up in St. Aug in '03. Pretty much a Fl. boy, prefer to keep it that way.

Ahhh, yes...small town gossip. Everybody knows everybody and all their bizness~lol. My friends and I couldn't do a thing without our parents knowing within 30 minutes! We'd have to travel to ATL & Buckhead to have some fun. I do miss the close-knit, community family feeling, though...that was long gone once we moved to Jax~until topix, of course! ;o) I know exactly where your mom lives...not too far from Winder, GA...there's a state park near there (we went on a school field trip once...not that memorable...I love Stone Mountain, though...it rocks~literally!) |

I like Stone Moutain too! The laser show is nice. We went camping with her a few summers ago at Ft. Yargo State Park ~ not nearly as much to offer, but still nice.(probably the same state park you were talking about) |
Mt. Healthy, I think (it was a long time ago), I have kin in N. College Hill (or did have until recently). My folks are more familiar with those areas, I haven't been there but once since I left, for only a couple of days to attend my grandmother's funeral in '02. |

Yep, Ft. "Yawngo" State Park...that be the one! Actually, from what I remember it wasn't that bad...just lots more to do at Stone Mountain. No doubt~the laser show on the side of the moutnain is awesome. I'm assuming they still do it...haven't been in several years. |
well i am sure you are happy to be a floridian now! that place is an arm pit! |
