Born in Cleveland:A depressing place now
Raised outside of Chicago: ditto
Teen years in Lakeland Fl.: too much urban crap sprawl. Looks like Orlando(the crappy parts).
I'm proud to say that I've now been in the south longer than I was in the north and hope I finally got all the Yankee outta me now! ha ha
Because "We don't give a damn how you did it up north"!

Born in ATL, GA
Raised most of my years is a small town/community SW of ATL...very country/rural area. We had 1 redlight and ZERO fast-food restaurants. Had to travel 15 miles for the nearest Mickey D's. They've "slightly" progressed over the years...added a flashing "caution" light & now have a Hardees.
Spent a few years in Athens, GA...typical small college town. Dad and stepmom still live there. The entire city revolves around UGA (as do most college towns.) Not much has changed there...few more bars, restaurants & strip malls.
Lived in Jax for the past 20 years, which feels like our "hometown" at this point.

I guess my hometown was Jacksonville since that is where I was raised.

I must confess that I do miss the beach. I love to walk down the beach with my shoes off and just watch the tides come and go!! I could literally (and have!!) spend hours and hours there. It is one of the most peaceful sights.

Oh geez, now I am homesick and wanting to come to the beach!!!

Careful there, hon! I just might take you up on that!

If that is where you live, then you live in a beautiful area. When my dad was stationed at Mayport, it was the only time in our 12 years in Jax that we lived on the base. He was an officer and we had a house that was a 5 minute walk to the beach. It was HEAVEN and I went every chance I got!

Even now when I come to Jax, I always reserve one day to myself, rent a car and head for the beach.

born in London, brought up in Berlin [when the wall was up] and schooled in Milan & Paris [only one term cos they **** then moved to Sennerlager [west Germany] then moved back to London, then I moved to California, then moved back to England then moved to Jacksonville four years ago......

Home to me is wherever I am, I suppose thats from a wjole life time of moving around the world and having a blast whilst doing so.

As for London now, well it has everything, arts, shopping history life, but it also is very VERY dirty, and very loud and nosiy and most real londoners can not even HOPE to actually be able to live in the heart of London anymore due to prices going up and up.

All right, John. That is enough! I am already drooling here. I haven't been to Jax since October of last year, so it is time for a visit.....

Laguna Hills, California. Ain't no place I'd rather be than back there. Too bad I can't afford it. Last time I saw it (March 2004) it was exactly like I remember it. Great weather, great people, clean, and just perfect. 30 minute drive to the beach. hour from L.A. hour and a half from Mexico. hour and a half from the mountains. four and a half hour drive from Vegas.
