Harry Bergeron Bronx, NY	Reply » \| Report Abuse \| Judge it! \| #23 May 9, 2008 Forever stamps cost what the going rate is (currently 41 cents) and are good for a first class letter forever, hence the name. When the price goes up to 42 cents next week a stamp purchased this week for 41 will still be good for postage; in fact, it will be the same type of stamp. Local "convenience" stores here sold the .39 stamps for .50 so they'll probably be even more next week. Still, I use maybe 2 a month so it's just a once-a-year wait on line at the local post office.
